annoying crash- franchise- desperate

Postby nathius on Mon Jul 07, 2003 10:54 pm

whenever i get late into my franchise, the game always suffers an annoying crash. i get to a year, usually nearing 2020, and i save my game. then, after doing this, i can not get into the load/save screen; ever. whenever i try, the game crashes to the desktop. then when i re enter the game and try to open the load/save screen, the game once again crashes; all until i go into my nba live file in my documents, and delete the save that the franchise is on; after i do this, the problem is fixed. i have worked out that the problem is with the save.dat file, not the dbf files. my problem is that i do not want to abandon my franchise, as i have put a lot of effort into it, and do not want to delete it. does anyone else have this problem, and/or does anyone have a solution?! any help is greatly appreciated

Backup the .dbf files, save a new Franchise in the desired save slot, then copy the .dbf files over the newly saved ones (do not restore the old save.dat file though). The save.dat file should be fine, and you should still have all your Franchise data.

this does not work, sorry andrew. it gives a code base error with the specifications of : file is not a data file. database corruption detected. in C:/ docs and settings/ user/ my documents/ nba live 2003/ database/ workingdb/ injury.dbf; whenever i try to load the save, with your solution, this occurs. at least i can get to the load/save screen, so other files are accesable, but i am really passionate about this franchise, and am very desparate to get back to wheeling and dealing. any other ideas?

If there's a problem with injury.dbf as suggested by that error message, try copying a fresh injury.dbf file from your NBA Live 2003 CD to the folder your Franchise is saved in. After you copy the file, make sure it is not write-protected before you enter the game and attempt to load the Franchise.
