Controller Problem

I've never had problems with using controllers for Live 2003 before but this issue occurred a few weeks ago. Everytime I would play a game, the controller buttons (ingame) would function correctly. But then after a few minutes, the buttons would switch off with another. For example, I choose Button A for Shooting but when the problem occurs, the Shooting Button is now Button B. And all the other buttons switch off with another. I check out the Controller screen and it still says the controller I've selected (Air Alert, a customized controller and I set all the buttons for it). I tried deleting it (the controller file in C:\My Documents\NBA Live 2003\config itself) and making a new one (ingame) but it doesn't seem to work. Help me out plese.

Is the controller supported by Live 2003, and do you have the official patch installed? Those are usually the causes of controller errors, an unsupported controller or having not installed the official patch.
