i need quick advice...

hey whatsup guys...right now im strapped for cash so i cant get live yet...but i just needed some advice on what to upgrade on my computer BEFORE i even get live...i want the best this game has to offer in regards to graphics (the other stuff, i'll adjust myself)...here are my specs for my computer...

p4 1.3 Ghz
128 mb rdram
geforce nvidia mx/mx 400
...and a s--tload of diskspace

...how should i update this in order to maximize this...im looking forward to your advice, guys...thanks...i love this forum...

well I have a pc very very similar to yours and I can tell you 2 things are extremely important: the ram and the 3d card.
I have the same 3dcard as yours and I can tell you the maximum you can put on 3d in live is medium, after that you have lots of lag and unstable fps, of course ram plays a big role here as well.... 128mb rdram is good though... just open nba live and close other programs running and you will be fine...
in short: its playable with your 3d card and you say you are strapped on the money so play it like that everything will be fine.

Half you guys don't know a damn thing about computers. Who in there right mind would go get a MX series an an upgrade. THOSE ARE JUNK. Go get another stick of 128MB RDRAM, to make it 256MB, and then from there, up date your Graphic Card. Get a Geforce3 Ti200 which you can find for about 75 shipped, or a Radeon 8500LE for the same price. I would go for the Radeon 8500, but If you have alot of money, o for a Geforce4 Ti4200 for about 125 shipped.

I have a 1.3 ghz comp with over 500 mb of ram, and plenty of room. I dont' know much about comps, but I know basics for performance. I have a 32 mb video card that came with the computer. On my other computer the video card is 64mb Radeon, but it is about 2 years old. Should I put the 64mb card in the comp instead of keeping the 32, and can someone please give me some advice for making my ping better for onling play. I only have dial up 56k modem, I shut down all the other programs but still seem to notice a little lag. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I would love to get cable modem, but live up in the mountians where it is not available.

i'd recommend a gf3 ti200 or even a gf4 ti4200 over that gf4 mx, as for whether to choose nvidia or ati, I still dont like ati's drivers, but they are getting better (still sticking to nvidia)

I bought an new display card just for NBA Live 8)

It's a Hercules ATI Radeon 8500, my CPU is 1.2G + 384MB SDRAM
I turned the details to MAX and running in 1024 resolution, it running smoothly and everything is fine

ATI Radeon 8500 series is cheaper than GF Ti4200 but i think the performance is nearly the same

look if money wasn't the problem I say go get a nvidia geforce 4 4600ti 128mb and a 512mbrdram or something... but since u have a problem.. and I cant blame u the prices are realy high today so I already told you a solution!

I have everything set on maximum, no choppy frame rates. Just smooth gameplay. So I don't know why you guys are saying the Geforce4 MX is crap.

The GF4MX is not necessarily "crap", but if you're upgrading to an MX card, you're probably not going to see an appreciable boost in performance. So, for about the same price or a maybe a little more, you might as well go with a high-end GF3. Personally, I still think the GF4Ti4200 is the best graphics card upgrade you can get right now!
