new to the patch deal!!

I just bought this game and i need help putting the patches in.
I read u are supposed to create a directory for the patch but how do u do that?
please help me with this bc i really like this game!!!!!

I like to suggest the NLSC's Customisation Guide, but some people don't fully understand that. I suggest doing a keyword search of the forum, there's already been some topics on this subject that might point you in the right direction.
