Choose New York, as they're not bad enough to get a good lottery pick, but not good enough to get a really good seeding. Plus there's the whole cap thing. Could be a challenge.

If you haven't already started your new Franchise...

I suggest choosing a team that you will enjoy playing with and one that will allow you to make desirable roster moves if necessary. The worst thing you can do is pick a team, play about 10 games of the season and realise you're bored.

If I may offer some non-specific suggestions:

  • Don't pick a team with a logo/jersey you can't stand. You don't want to be looking at that all season long. That said, don't pick a team simply because you think their jersey and logo is cool either.
  • Avoid making a series of blockbuster deals. Change the face of your team too much, and you might grow bored with your team of superstars, trying to divide up minutes, not knowing who will be the go to guy, etc.
  • Also avoid making trades after every game, just because a player does not have a good night. You might have to show some patience with some players.
  • When building a team, acquire players who fit into your style of play. If you don't shoot a lot of threes, don't build a team that specialises in three point shooting and nothing else.
  • After you start your Franchise, you can keep things fresh by trying new lineups, giving bench players more minutes to see who will play best in your system, etc.

As far as specific, original suggestions go...how about Boston, Phoenix, Indiana, Miami or San Antonio?

i had a lot of fun with denver(check Nuggets Franchise to see the team i ended up with)
i built a team which had 1 main big superstar, 2 upcoming youngsters in hilario and hall(guy i drafted wit h4th pick) and good role players in hughes and Posey, and the goto guy was kobe.
nuggets were cool, coz i had cap at the end of the season wit hthe releasing of howard.

but other teams that are good to play with Magic,Hornets and Portland i found surprisingly fun to play with also, and they have real good alternative jerseys also :D
