Please tell me how to call offensive & defensive plays o

Someone tried to tell me how to do it and It didn't work. I have the PC version and use a Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad. Does anyone know exactly how you call plays? I tried pressing the Jab Step button along with the D-pad to call the plays but that didn't seem to work. When I look on the control configuration section of the game, I can't make out what they're talking about.

I am not sure, cause we have the different gamepad.
If you have two analog sticks, the right one is the freestryle control, the left one is moving, so those D-pad would be the play calling, if you use the D-pad for moving, and left analog stick would be the play calling, mine works in that way, so...

I hit and keep pressed the select play button and then just choose the play I like from the 4 at the menu that appears in-play.
