Gamepad controls are not customizable. Argh!

Anyone played NBA Live 2000 before? If the answer is 'yes', you might get what I'm trying to say here.

Back in NBA Live 2000, I configure my buttons in such a way that both (offense) shoot and (defense) blocking/jumping use the same button. The same buttons goes/applies to my (offense) pass and (defense) steal. The rest of the buttons are mapped how or where I want them to be.

Tell me, is this still possible with NBA Live 2003? As far as I know, it's a 'no'. I'm having a hard time rearranging my buttons. Maybe I've gotten used to my old gamepad configuration. But then again, why did EA changed its format?

I hope EA gives the players the same option (like in Live 2000) when it comes to configuring gamepad buttons next time.

No, you can't customise the controller as you could in NBA Live 2000 (NBA Live 2001 also allowed much more customisation). An offensive button will always correspond to the same defensive button eg jab step/spin must be the same as jump to block/rebound.

Are there other people having problems with this setup? I hope we could forward this to EA Sports.

Personally I don't have a problem with it, but I did get Live 2002 on PS2, which did not feature any controller customisation and a similar setup, so I'm accustomed to it.
