How do you play defense?

Postby MaD_hAND1e on Wed Dec 18, 2002 5:07 pm

I have no problem staying in front of my man, but what else am I suppose to do to stop the cpu from getting inside? Am I supposed to go towards the cpu while in front of him? Its really frustrating when I'm in front of the the cpu the whole time but still he manages to find a way to push his way into the key and have an easy bucket. I've tried taking the charge but he never gets called, even though my setting is at the max. How do you guys stop the players? I wanna hear from those Hoopcity guys coz I hear they are really good. (No offence to everyone else who plays)

Use the zone D with the left arrow on your controller

aside from staying in front of your opponent using the face up key... and of course the zone defense... i use man to man defense and usually double team the point guard from half court...

then i usually have a good shot blocking center... i control this player to block shots.. im pretty good at it... because when your center stays inside.. (but occasionally go out of the paint or you will be called for 3 sec) the opponent cannot just drive through.. he is either force to pass or make a jump shot... then you can block his shot.. u can use tall centers with high leaping ability not necessarily high block rating.... like i use yao ming, shawn bradley, ben wallace, even darius miles (SF)...

Well the defense depends on the offense of your opponent...

there are alot of good defensive strategies, regular ones you know from bball in real life like man-2-man, zone or press-defenses and also some weird ones like "Hands-up"-defense-styles or just rushin for the Charge and alot of variations which player you control and which player is going for the help.

learn the defenses ea brings you with the game to play and create your own strategies. At best you play alot of games versus different players to see which defense works best for you and against which D you got most problems.

At last, i wanna get back to my first sentence, you are available of some defense strategies, use them in the game and watch for, which one works best against your opponent. :D But every D has its weakness, if it fails switch it!

THanks for you replies guys. BUt if I play man to man, is there anyway to stop the cpu from getting inside? I mean staying in front while trying to "push" the cpu away from the basket?
