Kobe Bryant's first name is Kobe, isn't it?

In China, last name is said before the first name. Yao is his last name and Ming is his first name. So following his ethnic tradition, he is referred to as Yao Ming in the NBA. That's why, in live 2003, his last name is actually set to Ming and first name is actually set to Yao for this effect. But if you want to be completely authentic or following NBA tradition, you might want to reverse that.

As for myself, being a Chinese, I prefer Yao Ming over Ming Yao because Yao Ming is the way he should be called. The same goes for Wang Zhi-Zhi and not Zhi-Zhi Wang. I'm not sure about Mengke Bateer because Mongolian names are very different from Chinese names.

My suggestion is stick with how the NBA calls them in their roster.
