are there compatible files for nba 05 from other nba live games?

You might want to run a search for more information, but here's a quick rundown:

Faces can be used, but headshapes require a little editing to show up properly. There's a tutorial for it in the Wiki. Headshapes made for games other than NBA Live 2005 will also not display headbands properly unless you create a custom headband file.

Jerseys from 06 are generally compatible, though sometimes the numbers need to be re-sized. This can be done with the Jersey Raptor for NBA Live 06.

Rosters are not compatible, at least without conversion. That's definitely not a task for novices though.

Courts from 08 can be used, as long as you're only using the XXXXcrt.ebo, XXXXcrt.fsh and XXXXcrt_vram.fsh files (where XXXX is the four letter team abbreviation).

Arm and leg textures are not compatible.

Some logo/front end files are compatible, others will show up but not be displayed correctly. It's best to stick with 2005 files here.

Portraits are compatible, but NBA Live 2005 is more finicky about the size of portrait files compared to 06-08. Large portrait files will cause a crash to desktop, so certain portraits need to be exported/re-imported etc before they can be used.
