EDIT: This pic of Chris Webber from Live 2001 was removed because it was very large and making it difficult to read the thread. This is still a great post, though. -EG

It hadnt even crossed my mind that nba live had been in are lives 10 years till i read the "First look" story so i thought we could have alook back at the pass 9 nba live's...

The old horrible press angle that the cpu beat you with long passes up court every time and in this year the point guards were the only players that would shot for the cpu :? go figue.

NBA LIVE 96

Image

Nba live 96 was the only one that i havent bought myself instead i got "give and go" for the super nes but did later swap give and go for nba live 96 and after that i was hooked.

This is one nba live year that i really did hate... every shot the cpu would just lean in and shot!! abit like he was jumping to the basket from 20 feet.

so which is your best nba live?

For a long time it was Live 2000 PC, but Live 2004 PC is my favorite and I'm hoping Live 2005 PC will be even better.

BTW--great thread through memory lane.

Mon May 10, 2004 5:45 am

ditto on what cocobee said..live 2004 was/is the best of the series ever.

Mon May 10, 2004 6:30 am

i loved nba live 97! i still got that on my cpu and i play it everyday with my favorite team the magic!

Mon May 10, 2004 7:46 am

My first is always going to be 97.
My second is 2003 because all the stuff they added + I was looking for a game like that. I hated 2002 because it was the same as 2001 which wasn't better than 2k1 or 2k2.

Mon May 10, 2004 7:54 am

good job realizing that btw :)
my fav- 2003 cuz of freestyle n stuff :)
2nd fav, 98 :)

Mon May 10, 2004 8:22 am

i stand corrected live 04 is the best yet.
i played live 01 at a friends house tonight and it sucked ass compared to the 04 version

Mon May 10, 2004 11:25 am

My favorites are NBA Live 2000 and Live 2004. I can't decide which one I like the best. I got Live '00 on PC and I only got Live '04 on PS2. I'm leaning towards 2000 because of all the patches.

Mon May 10, 2004 5:40 pm

My favourite is definitely NBA Live 2004, though hopefully NBA Live 2005 will become my favourite later this year.

Ahh these pictures brings back good memories (thanks mp3), I have actually played nba live since my bro came home with the first nba live '95

When I played myself I only played 3min*4q on arcade mode, no rules, Full action, I remember that I usally played with team with a big dunker include. Washingt Bullets with Webber etc.
Damn, that game even had mouse support :o (y)

We (me and my bigbro) have played the live together since the first, he has always been better than me but now finally @ nba live 2004 I'm actually way better than him (what should be mention is that I play it way more than him too which I didn't do in the prev. live games).

I can't say which one I have enjoyed most though, However I have not really played the 96' version (we never bought it or got it).

BTW: My brother actually got his nba live 95 cd left here somewhere

Got Damn Man!!!

Looking at those pictures, brought tears to my eyes!!!

It made me think about the old days when there was no war going on, and life was easy, and chilling out playing Live with my homies when I was real young. Back when Fresh Prince of Bel-Air use to come on every week day, with new shows.

DAMN!!!

::crying::

Wed Jun 02, 2004 3:50 am

wooo this was nice! (Y) I owned them all and i loved them all. 04 is definitely my fav rite now and im sure 05 will be even better

Wed Jun 02, 2004 6:32 am

Yea, I started playing from '95 on  Out of all of them except for this year, my 2 favorite would have to be '97 for the graphics they had compared to the earlier version and then 2000 because of Michael Jordan's first appearance in a basketball video game.

I played NBA LIve 2000 until the cows came home. I also still have live '97 and I have the Strategy Guide for NBA LIve 2000. I wish I kept all my NBA Lives but I would trade the previous year in for the newer year one so it would not cost as much but now I regret it.

What a fabolous 10 years Live has had and will continue to have :D

Excellent post. In fact...I think this deserves something special.

I own NBA Live except 97.

I used to average 102 points per game in Live 95 with Penny Hardaway. I'd just shove the computer on the ground, turbo up court then jump from the three point line...fly about 8 feet towards the basket and release the J...which went in at about an 80% clip. And launch fadeaways from just behind the line that faded so much that you'd end up on the sidelines or behind the halfcourt line after releasing the shot. But it was butter baby..swish almost every time.

Hey, what do you want...I was 13 years old.

I remember 2000/2001 I had some good memories with too because that was my freshman year of college (I'm finishing my degree now, graduating in August). I had a rep in the dorm because no one could beat me in NBA Live 2001...I would blow everyone out by 30 points. Then one day some friends of ours wanted me to play someone else who was good, but he only played 2000. The time he wanted to play I had a nasty headache and it was like 11 at night, and I hadn't played 2000 in months. I played him anyway...he used the Lakers and I used the Knicks minus Allan Houston (he was a Houston fan so I benched Houston for most of the game just to mess with him) we went back and forth...but I couldn't get the release right (you remember the difference between 2001 and 2000 was huge)...he went on a late run and I lost by 7 or 8 points I think. There were like 8 people crammed into our room watching and it was huge that I lost. Only time I ever did lose at that game though.

Now of course...I got to play 2003 with my cousins in California...they're amazed at my skills. My oldest cousin (I think he's 14) swears he can beat me even though he hasn't really come close yet. We'll see when I move out there in a couple months.

As the slogan says..."I love this game."

Live 00 is my favorite. I only own 03 and 00. Live 00 is the best of all. Graphics are not that sharp but overall aspect is excellent. All the other game are trying to be "mind boggling" but they all have failed my expectations. I just feel so sad. All that money and they can't wise it wisely producing high quality products for their customers.

Thank you.

Live 2000 brought me into the patches, I remember Steve´s Live 2000 website, where he had the updates of like 50 something players :P , I loved it...specially the Jordan patch (Y), and all the tattoos for Iverson  wow, It all sounds so normal these days, but back then for me it was heaven :P

Thu Jun 03, 2004 9:14 am

hehehe.. I see mp3 copied me from nbalive.org and he even made the same mistake I did... where he says lets look at the past 9 nba lives and then lists 10.. :P I didn't even realise till Tim pointed out my mistake..

Tim wrote:yes, NBA LIVE 2005 will be coming out this year in the fall :) However, it'll actually be the 11th entry in the series - it may sound weird but it's true.

guess no one else realised here either.. It was actually NBA Live 2004 that was the 10th game and the 10 year anniversary.. ;)
