Can you make it so the players continue running when they catch the ball? I hate how the players stop moving to catch the ball.

Yes! If you could create a fastbreak, this game would become the top basketball game ever created.

Yay , that will be awesome.

Ahh , also ... i want to see a 3pt line dunk XD

For the fastbreak, maybe you can take the animation from NBA Live 06.

Wed Feb 07, 2007 3:51 pm

this 2.1 has the newest edits up-to-date plus the previous styles already covered right? like it includes edited dunks from v1.4-2.0?

edit: is it possible if u can throw in an underlegged dunk like in the practice dunk school, but maybe something similar to it? thatd be a nice one to put. also, maybe an alley-ooped underleg as well. :o

Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:33 am

Okay I'll do that for version 2.2 it is just a matter of editing the passing reception. . . (Y)

Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:36 am

about the underlegged dunk well the animations for the slamdunk contest are in a different animation folder from the regular game so if i cnt merge the slam dunk animations and the dunk contest animations that cannot be done. . . :(

Thu Feb 08, 2007 6:12 am

since this is about AIACT editing, im not sure if its in the similar area as the dunk animations, but do the facial expressions deal with the same thing too? i was thinking that if maybe you can make them have more facial expression during in-game like in live 2004. when you see the players in action during the replay, usually the facial expression is like all stiff-like. im pretty sure in real life they dont make stiff expressions  anyway, is it possible to change this? if not, then no big deal. also for example, at the end of first half, when they "walk into the locker room", you see them moving their heads as if they are talking but no there is no lip movement just head nods and whatever

Getting the players to analyse the fastbreak situation is harder than I thought it might take me a longer time. . . anyway here is a beta of 2.2 It fixes the jumpshot pass so that players will be on the move after a pass and changed the bigman jumpers to regular ones so they dnt look dumb

I Like this one:

But I have one request, can you make small guys such as Wade to be able to block dunks of guys like kobe bryant? I think in 05, you can block a guy's dunk or layup if he's smaller than your player.

Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:01 am

WTF, that dunk was still in the game? Thats a 2004 dunk.

EDIT: I am amazed. I was just playing around with it and I have seen so many dunks and other animations that I thought were 07 only. Wow, nice work man (Y)

damn, i wish that tap the glass dunk was in 07.....suppressing thoughts of leaving the 07 modding scene and moving to 2005

Here is a preview of the Work in Progress fast break passes.

Image

when the open situation arises the pcontext.act will be active just make sure your man is open.

The WIP is included in this version along with dunks from a longer range, better blocking by you and the cpu for jumpshots, and new passes that give you more alley-oop opportunities....

Oh yeah and some dunks now have higher air like this one:

how do you edit aiact.viv?
can you link me the program, thank you!

Sat Feb 10, 2007 12:25 pm

Seushiro, your amazing. When I first used your very first AIACT I didn't like it at all, now I will never play a game until I get the latest version. Awesome Job.

Do it! Do it!

Sat Feb 10, 2007 1:23 pm

omg...Seushiro, you are AMAZING. That fast break is SICK.

"suppressing thoughts of leaving the 07 modding scene and moving to 2005"

To echo the sentiments of Flite 23....DO IT DO IT! :D (Y)

Sat Feb 10, 2007 1:26 pm

I think you should make the aiact so that the players keep moving once they get the ball, instead of stopping to catch the ball. I tried your aiact my fastbreak isnt moving like the one in your preview.

Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:06 pm

Seushiro, question about the lob. Are you referring to that stupid lob at the end of the quarter when time runs out?

Usually, it's like this. Let's say you score with a few seconds left at the end of the quarter. The computer will in bound and immediately shoot a full court shot and the ball always goes out of bounds and there's like .004 seconds left. Then you have to inbound and let the clock run down just so the quarter can end. It is annoying and unrealistic.

Is there any way to make the computer take a better shot? Like run as close to the basket as possible before attempting the shot so the quarter ends on their attempt, rather than having it go out of bounds?

I hope you know what I'm talking about.

OK, I played a couple games with the latest version.

Pros:

- Love the new passes, especially the long range bounce pass
- Fast breaks are better than they have ever been in the break-less Live 05
- Blocking is great, harder more explosive blocks from longer ranges
- New crossovers take a while to get used to, but are really effective
- Higher air on dunks, all but the cock it back with one hand dunk looks great (not the dunk shown in your picture)
- Put back dunks are perfect

Cons:

- On fast breaks, if you press dunk to early the player will make an oddlooking hookshot/teardrop shot that usually goes in
- Dunking must be done from closer distances than in the past
- Blocking looks great, but they could be toned down a little in terms of how often a big block happens
- Very risky to pump fake if you are more than 2 or 3 feet from the 3 point arc, as the player will usually chuck up a teardrop type shot (the same shot used for full court desperation shots)
- The crossover that looks a bit like a stepback gets lost alot. I used Gilbert Arenas and had 4 turnovers using that move, he just dropped the ball

Suggestions:

- Take out the hookshot/teardrop like shot that banks in, it seems unrealistic and prevents alot of should be dunks (I think it is the same animation that was once the big man shot)
- Replace the full court toss with a normal jumpshot, or if you can, make a jumpshot happen anywhere out to half court. Half court or a greater distance - full court toss
- Fix the problem with good ballhandlers losing the ball on the stepback-like crossover move
- Fine tune the dunk packages to allow for more realistic dunking, eg. when a player is by themselves on a fast break, 90% of the time the basket will be a dunk (height/athleticism permitting, but for average dunkers that should happen). In that situation, most of the time my man would do the old big man jump shot animation.

Overall, great job. A few changes here and there and NBA Live 2005 should be considerably more realistic than any other version to date. Keep up the good work.

ooh, i have another cool suggestion to make. if you can, hope you can, could you edit it so that in a quarter if there isnt much time left, instead of passing in the ball, you are alley-ooping to a player from the inbound. is that possible to edit? (Y)

I'm guessing you saw the magic vs spurs game the other night? That would definitely be cool if you could throw oops from out of bounds. It's stupid when you have like .3 seconds and can't catch and shoot so the clock just runs out.

And this is off topic but I was wondering how do u make those videos? Like the one in your last post.

Sun Feb 11, 2007 1:02 pm

The videos are just animated .gif files. You take a bunch of screens a few seconds apart and you can make it look like a video.
