Why players miss dunks

for missed alleyoop dunks, i think dunk rating does have an impact, although i think it's also:

- how far from the hoop the finisher is when he raises his hand
- how strong the defender is

i think passer rating is lower on the totem pole in whether an alley-oop dunk finishes or misses: i've had andres nocioni pass to eddy curry for a successful alley-oop dunk before.
