exactly i remember doin that with Shane Warne Cricket it was great

lol and AFL Live 2004...

------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh and also EA could you please add this in game stats thingy. Where when you play a team in Dynasty mode for like the second time or third time during a season, stats come up during gameplay about last times game.

For example leading scorers, leading reobunders, result of the game stuff like that...

What you think guys???

eh..i think we have the retro team at live.org rosters....and btw..i want a realistic landing after a dunk

Wed Apr 28, 2004 4:01 am

I've played once Fox sports basketball 2000 for a while
(I lost NBA-Live 2000  )
But one thing was great, even superbe!! The comment on plays.
I remember one of the commentators was Doc Rivers. But it was great.

I still know one sentence: Big Fellaw inside!! They said that when you went inside with Shaq or Mourning and came up with a huge dunk!

I did like the sound of that game and I really miss that on the NBA-live series

Wed Apr 28, 2004 5:20 am

I'd like to see, the rebound button actually be a rebound button and when you press dunk/layup on a rebound, then they go for the stick back jam.

I'm a keyboard user but still applys to other situations, passing is WAY too accurate. teams often get 9-10 turnovers a half at best. Passing should be based on the passing rating, cause so far, that rating is useless. Low ratings result in more errant passing and vice versa for high rating. Not all deep passes (or all passes for that matter) connect irl, but in live it is hard pressed to see any passes missed. When you have someone on you, the passing completion percentage should drop and in double teams this should double.

Speaking of which, double teaming and full court press is done to contain certain players and often make passing very very hard, they don't strip the ball THAT often but force errant passes or wastes time outs. And the forced animation in double teams is nice graphically but inaccurate and makes it hard for the offensive player to dribble out without passing.

Personally, the game looks great and if you don't improve any graphical aspects i'll still be very happy as long as you fix the in game stuff. 3-point, 2 on 2, better refs crowds, better faces are all mute points if the game is flawed and can only keep fans playing for so long until they realize its crap. You want graphically flashy stuff, go play NBA Ballers or NBA Street. Live should be a simulation, know what you're making and make it. You've done good work before, please just do it again take more time if you need it, just give us a good game.

I think there is a big problem with all current NBA games is that there is NO real gravity and inertia in the game, so even if you do a crossover that breaks ankle, it's just simply playing an animation, there is no real feelings in it. Anyone who had played SEGA Virtual Tennis and Winning Eleven 7 would know what i am talking about.. In those sports games you can really feel the players are running and jumping on somewhere called Earth.. There is a strong feeling of gravity and inertia in the game. I really hope EA can achieve this in game otherwise it's just not gonna be "Real Basketball Simulator". Any basketball title achieved this would just easily kick others out of the market.

One more thing, I really really love the post plays and fade aways in SEGA NBA 2K2, it's still the best ever! There is a lot of low post moves you can do in NBA 2K2 and they are all very realistic, you can back down the defender a few steps and choose to fade away from left or right, just like the old jordan style. Those things add so much fun to the game and made NBA 2K2 one of the best b-ball game ever. I've been hoping Live can implement these for a long time............... Will i see them in Live 05??

-Sometimes block the CPU hook shots.
-If you're going to dunk the ball, DUNK the ball over the other player. I hate when my players just do that stupid leaner  .
-Not let the CPU catch you on the fast break.
-Not let the CPU players move so fast on defense.

Wed Apr 28, 2004 8:37 am

I just hope they allow some contact around the basket without the player going all off balance and looking as though he's going to go face first into the ground. Come on, how often do you see Shaq doing this after being defended by someone like Shawn Bradley or something of that sort. :?

Wed Apr 28, 2004 12:29 pm

Gameplay
-Let a player face up while dribbling instead of automatically protecing the ball (why have a button for that if it happens automatically)
-Looks like the in-air automatic shot changing will be different with freestyle air or w/e
-Not have players always stumble around after getting hit in-air.
-allow passes that the players run into instead of stopping and jumping (then stumbling)
-No bouncing of the defender
-Not having every post player double teamed
-Make post players have more of an impact in the game. I never try to get a guy like Shaq or Yao because they can't power through and create a shot. I just end up with the 'seizure in mid-air' EA refers to as the 'shot adjustment'.
-No more dunking through backboards
-players looking at the ball in alley-oops

That stuff isn't that hard EA

Franchise
- Make money and contract length independent so you can negotiate
- Training camp does soemthing, yadda, yadda
- More in-depth draft, maybe the ability to hire scouts and getting decent players after the 15th pick.
- 3 team trades
- Let user players win player/rookie of the month

Other Stuff
-Improve graphics, don't over-blend
- Ability to change headshapes in create-a-player
- x number of hairstyles in one colour that can be changed (a blond afro might happen)
- Have all team shoes (not the signature shoes) in 5 basic colourways, blue, red, green, yellow, purple.
- edit headbands for real players

Wed Apr 28, 2004 1:38 pm

All-Stars To Include On This Years' Game:
50's:
George Mikan

60's:
Jerry West
Nate Thurmond

70's:
Elvin Hayes
Dave DeBusschere

80's:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

90's:
Charles Barkley
Patrick Ewing

Will this ever be possible...on any NBA game- I know it was close in NBA 2K3...??? :?

EA has already indicated they will not (or cannot, due to the NBA's insistence) put fights in the game, therefore it is never a feature on our Wishlist that we send to EA. I for one hope I never see fights in NBA Live, and I know other people feel the same way.

The only barrier preventing EA from including the players you mentioned LankyMan is that the players aren't under contract with EA anymore. Whether they are no longer interested or are asking for too much money, I'm not sure. I hope we'll see a couple of new Legends in Live 2005, but it all depends on them agreeing to appear in the game.

Wed Apr 28, 2004 4:25 pm

hows about a play of the game, some half time show ang more free throw animation like rituals and stuf they do durin free throwsü

Wed Apr 28, 2004 7:27 pm

I want Euroleague included in the game. It will increase the interest in Europe. I know we have the patch but still..

Make some changes with online play - add more sliders. Add the possibility to prevent full court pressing or zone or excessive pumping at threepoint line (as long as it takes dor the opposing player to jump). Many people won't use that, but Online leagues sometimes have to limit the style of playing if it gets annoying to the majority.

And, NR I wish - include Direct IP connection. There was an announcement somewhere this will be omitted from Euro 2004. Don't make that mistake or we'll have to play NBA Live 2004 for another year.

Wed Apr 28, 2004 9:47 pm

yeah if that could be possible that you can get players from other leagues, nbdl, aba2000(don't know if this league still exsists) euroleague.

and maybe in franchise mode you can become a great euroleague manager , and then as a promotion NBA teams can offer you a job as GM

Wed Apr 28, 2004 11:45 pm

I'd like to see:
-Putbacks, tips, longer rebounds and better use of timeouts. (Eg have full and 20sec timeouts for exactly that amount of time (or players don't recover much in a 20sec timeout))
-Players not getting stuck once double teaming. (You see a guy wide open for a three and you can't get out of the double (That I can find anyway))
-More movement by players without the ball. (Lose your dribble and everyone stands still. Have to call a screen and a guy comes running over)
-Everything else I think everyone else has mentioned :)

Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:40 am

In Online game it would be great if you could select which team is home anf to have a slider for home court advantage.

Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:51 am

I'm having a feeling this thread will get rather large... So here's mine

- Ingame saves.
- More and better animations.
- Better dynasty.
- Nicer graphics.
- Larger textures for the shoes ;)

Thu Apr 29, 2004 4:18 am

I want battles on the boards. A lot of contact in the paint going for the rebound. I want Ben Wallace to rip rebounds out of people's hands. I want to see players tapping the ball up trying to gain possetion. And different things like that.

I also want better control and touch on the passes. Alley-Oops should be soft lobs.

Thu Apr 29, 2004 10:20 am

okay, this will be very shoe related, but hey I think they are one of the major parts of the agme along with jersyes
shoes-
-have shoelaces, not just textures wiuth laces, maybe real laces that move around when your player does
-have more shoes, and realistic prices, 400points for AJ11s?-lower nba store point values
-have shoes be more detailed, based on real pics, not artist renderings
-jerseys should be dare i say baggy-to look more realistic

courts-
-have courts react differnetly, and balls should be different pressures to effect bounces and possibility of have soft rolls off backboard or off rim

misc.-
-realistic defense like you can't dirbble past guys, like you get stuck to them and can't move away
-players can't blokc even if tehy are taller **except a shaq v. bykins matchup***

I agree

Dynasty Mode

Add the option of taking control of more than one team

Better simulated stats, perhaps bringing back the Dstats. Stats based on player ratings do result in lower stats as players decline, but they are less precise than they were with Dstats. Scoring averages decrease too steeply after the first year.

Allow as many as 5 players to be traded. Do not count draft picks as players in a deal, ie. allow 5 (or even just 3) players to be traded in addition to draft picks. I'd also like to see a three team trade, but only if you can propose movement between the two CPU teams (which they would both have to agree to).

Improve free agency. Star players should very rarely accept minimum deals. Though star players do change teams from time to time, it should not happen too often and almost never for less money, especially when they're in their prime.

Vary the manner in which the CPU drafts players. A team doesn't always take the best player available, as he may not play the position they are weak at. Also, a few more steals and some oddities (6'9" point guards, etc) would be cool too.

Bring back the dialog box to Confirm or Cancel an accepted trade.

Improve selection of award winners, especially Player of the Month and Most Improved Player.

Use secondary position when selecting All NBA teams (eg select KG as a small forward, so that both Duncan and KG can be on the All NBA First Team). Consider this method for selecting All-Star starters as well.

Training Camp/Player Training should not result in player decline. A little more development in training would be nice.

Roster Management

Allow trading for an empty roster spot, at least when working with the default rosters.

Allow the user to disable automatic roster re-ordering.

Allow selection of different headshapes in Create-a-Player

Add more hairstyles and facial hair, including some retro ones. Allow colour selection for all styles and beards, and allow the user to match the colour of each.

Allow editing of headbands and goggles for non-created players from within the game.

Add Custom Teams, with some generic basketball or NBA themed logos. Allow some basic custom jersey designs.

Add Create/Edit-a-Coach. Allow the user to replace coaches with created ones.

:!: I AGREE WITH ALL OF THEM :!:
EA YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

(I also agree that you should be able to say the last names of rookies (coming from the dynasty draft) and CREATED PLAYERS! How about saying the first name too!

Only rarely:

Jumpball (like you try to steal the ball but you get a good hold and just after some seconds they call jump ball)

If the big men battle in the post and go down, both teams should probably race to the other end of the court, while the big men are behind still trying to get up and such.

(This should be VERY RARE. LIKE ONCE IN YOUR CAREER) Being able to do that putback that Jordan did off of Grant Hill's free throw (all star game).

Things to fix:

All the game glitches (like offensive fouls and such)

Decent graphics for ALL players

Adjustments:

Tone down the amount of possible fast breaks.

Enough 'bumping'! You can get halfway between the 3 point line and the basket, then the CPU will bump you back outside.

The high amounts of dunk/layup blocking. Maybe if they go for a layup Yao or someone will swat it, but not a dunk every single time.

When a good blocker swats the ball, it should ALMOST always fly out of bounds toward the sidelines.

Increase the amount of reach in calls! I'm surprised many players online repeatedly tap their steal button trying to get the ball, with no call! Rarely ever do players go for a strip (cept maybe Malone and a few others).

When someone is injured, everybody just slowly walks to the center of the court. They should be going to the other court setting up defense, and players that notice the injured guy go over and help.

Fouls shouldn't be called instantly. (Like if get a blocking foul the whistle is immediate).

The commentary should be more 'intense' during more intense moments. Like if you take a flop w/ no call they might say "AND KOBE GOES DOWN! NO CALL! JORDAN GOES TO THE RIM! OH MY GOODNESS! (etc)"

Things to add:

Intentional fouls on people in the air- push them.

All the rest of basketball elements (tech fouls, flagrant, etc.)

Off ball fouls.

Refs running up and down the sidelines.

More outbursts. (Like if you get the 5th foul late in game, you might see the guy jump up and down surrounding the ref.

Play of the game.

All the refs should have their own 'AI'. This game shouldn't be "charA took charge too late, call blocking foul". It should be "refA sees charA get run over. refB sees charA commit blocking foul. Discuss." Basically, not every call is gonna be 'right'. There should be disagreements between refs, and possibly (rarely though) the wrong call will be made. Maybe the commentator might say, "Now that was a bad call."

Also:

I'm not sure if this is already implicated, but the level of fatigue should SEVERELY affect play. I mean, there's people that play with their players even though they have no more stamina at all. For example, you shouldn't be able to jump as high/dunk if you are fatigued, and also of course not shoot well.

Fri Apr 30, 2004 12:59 am

I won't ask for better graphics, or better funs, or even referees running down the sidelines, all that would be OK but for now I just want the following:

1)Please, I want to edit teams, and I mean teamname, Stadium name, shirt colours, like I was able to do in some previous NBA Lives (I want to play with national teams with no need to edit the program database, I want an easy editor). I know this won't happen just beacuse they want to sell me each year a new game instead of letting me modify it.

2)Each team playing the kinda plays they use to run in real games, what's the point of watching Phil Jackson at the courtside if the Lakers won't run 2 consecutive triangle plays.?

3) Customizable tournaments, why do I have to play with 2 Conferences and 4 Divisions and with a maximun of 32 teams????

I could ask for more, but I'd be more than glad with these few changes. Amen

I want to also see the ball tipped out to another player when a rebound is not secured...I have never seen this in any other game yet and it would add more realism

When my player left behind his defender, and had a clear path to the rim, suddenly he will run slower and jump less, and the CPU will block him, or my player will make the foul, or the CPU player will jump in his back and foul him, but...no foul :x ! I seriously think this is a flagrant foul.

Just to add to that point, I'm hoping for further improvements to the simulated stats for bench players. They're definitely better in NBA Live 2004, but in some cases the rebounds, assists and minutes per game are a little too low. Points per game averages are generally pretty good, but some players should average a little more off the bench.
