Hey andrew do you get those wacky miracle alley-oops by the cpu. seems i get about 3 to 5 a game i hate those even from live 2004. do you know of a way to stop that and make them real alley oop passes, oh yeah i played about 5 games with your sliders and i found that there isnt enough blocking going on i get maybe 1 or 2 a game and i cpu gets around the same i move it up to 5 for both CPU and human just making some tweaks on them. but overall your sliders are still the best out there.

This get's realistic scores, but the pace is too slow in comparison to real life, the reason for this is that in the game you don't have to use playcalling apart from the pick and roll etc, the offense is so freestyle and their's not stress on playcalling which makes you play fastpaced.

Bumping the speed up to 40 with the rest of my sliders should be fine, I personally prefer 36 but I acknowledge that my sliders aren't perfect for everyone. A few tweaks and variations here and there are definitely in order if they aren't working out. (Y)

Actually I like the speed, I was just saying, I prefer the slower speed myself...

do u guys use plays for the cpu when playing against and using these sliders or do u leave it at dynamic?

kobelive2005 wrote:nice sliders, i think it's definitely for superstar difficulty. even though im very satisfied with my sliders, i've tried your's on all-star difficulty and it's very easy.

here are my comments for those who'll use Andrew's sliders on all-star:
1. reach-in foul frequency is too low resulting in too many steals and turnovers.
2. short, medium and long range shooting decrease to 45(user&cpu) because it's too easy to shoot if it's on 50.
3. change the dunk v.s. lay-up frequency to 2(user&cpu) whether you play on all-star or superstar. this will solve the problem on small point guards dunking in traffic but it would not ruin the ability of the athletic guys to dunk.

Thanks kobelive2005, I'll give those changes a try. I might have to suggest a couple of different sets, one with tweaks more appropriate for All-Star difficulty. Thanks for the input! :)

Thanks Yessie, I'll give those changes a try too. As far as the alley oops go, I find the easiest way of stopping them is to spend a bit of time controlling your big men on defense so that you don't allow the CPU to get open paths to the lane when they're cutting to the hoop without the ball or posting up. They can't really be toned down with sliders and lowering ratings just makes things difficult for the human player.

Unfortunately the CPU has the ability to make really difficult plays quite frequently, such as hitting heavily contested shots (especially as the shot clock expires) and the difficult alley-oops you mentioned. As I said in my review (yes, a shameless plug of NLSC content ;)) they can be irritating yet NBA Live 2005 frequently produces realistic stats in my experience. I haven't had a contest since I've grown used to the new gameplay where either team has had truly unrealistic scores or stats (both team and player). Even though the CPU tends to make miracle plays easily, they seem to be evened out.

Andrew, got tip for using your sliders? i've played 5 games with it. won 1, lost 4. i'm getting good FG% but very high scores(105-115).

any tip would be appreciated... tnx..

what I do is I slow down the game...I dont run up the court and try to "fastbreak" everytime which I use to do and I would end up getting 105+ shots each game...now that I slow the game down I am getting around 80-85 shots a game and my FG% is around 40-47%

also IMO, Andrew's sliders are great but I did tweak it a lil, I put the game speed down to 35(I know its not much going from 36 to 35 but I actually could feel it slow down more) and also I think that the Short, Medium, and Long are still too high so I turned those down a little as well as others

I hope this helps ya

did anyone try my sliders out (they're a couple posts up- right below capt falcon's hot blonde girl sig )?

Mon Dec 13, 2004 6:33 am

hot blonde girl?? Ugly blond girl...... anyway for the sliders is there any way to change the sliders instead of going into the game and changing them. In Nhl 2005 you can do that, cause it takes soo long to change the sliders.

on defense, I always play man to man and always try to keep a hand in the shooters face, it doesn't mean that the shot will always miss but it gives me a more chance to make the cpu adjust the shot so they dont have a high % of making it

well i left long range at 50 on both
but for short and medium range for human i put it at 47 and for computer i put it at 49

i believe thats what I put and I'll take a look later on when I get home so if I have otherwise then Ill tell ya
hope that helps ya too :D

These are my sliders, I play with them in my Toronto Raptors dynasty (29 games, full

games). Personally I think they are very realistic:

DR13's sliders:
Superstar -> 10 minutes

GLOBAL SLIDERS:
Speed: 48
Free Throw: 88
Boundary: 100
Injury: 45
Fatigue: 45
Charge/Block: 80
Shooting: 10
Reach: 28
In-Air: 55

USER SLIDERS:
Steals: 22
Interceptions: 5
Shot Block: 3
Dunk Block: 8
Freestyle: 50
Dunk Freq: 20
Substitutions: 50
On-Ball Defensive Assist: 100
Off. Rebounds: 45
Def. Rebounds: 50
Fakeout: 80
Short Range: 32
Medium Range: 35
Long Range: 38
Dunk %: 70
Lay Up%: 50
Adjusted Shot %: 42
On-Ball Physical Defense: 90
Poor Release %: 50
Double Team: 45
Pro Hop: 25
Drop Step: 30

CPU SLIDERS:
Steals: 15
Interceptions: 10
Shot Block: 0
Dunk Block: 2
Freestyle: 50
Dunk Freq: 20
Substitutions: 50
Off. Rebounds: 45
Def. Rebounds: 60
Fakeout: 80
Short Range: 32
Medium Range: 35
Long Range: 38
Dunk %: 70
Lay Up%: 50
Adjusted Shot %: 40
Adjusted Shot Freq: 50
On-Ball Physical Defense: 80
Poor Release %: 40
Double Team: 50
Pro Hop: 40
Drop Step: 45

Now, some notes:
I don't like a slow game to much, but 48 isn´t a big number. Adjust Free Throw to your

convenience. Maybe shooting fouls is a bit low, but thats refer to the low FGs. In Air

Collision fouls also are low because I want more collision there to difficult getting

easy points in the paint. My shot block slider is 3 because when it was 0 I can't

block a shot! Dunk frequency is higher than other sliders, but that's just because I

don´t want Carter doing a lay up in a fast break, for me there aren't many dunks. It

can change, though. For some strange reason I CAN get many offensive rebounds, they

aren't that difficult. And the FG is way slow than others, but test it: I have FGs%

from 30% to 55% in games, and that's realistic.
Some games with these sliders:
Detroit 100 - 99 Toronto (OT) -> arggh! that was bad (Rasheed scoring the last

2-point, and Carter failing a desperate 3-point in 1.3 seconds.)
Milwaukee 75 - Toronto 101 -> ¡The first quarter was only 12-12, both teams with a

horrible FG%! (about 25%). But then I scored higher... and won the game by 26 points.
New Orleans 76 - Toronto 82 -> Decent. And very realistic... About 39% my game FG%
That's all... Please test my sliders and reply... :)

Wed Dec 15, 2004 4:11 pm

In my opinion,if youre playing with another user, the short range shooting sliders should be toned down to 40 or 35.its very easy to shoot the ball.

pass the ball to anyone in the post who has good shooting, like croshere, then press shoot, just simple jumpshot right away.if you are not blocked which is the case for smaller defenders, you get automatic 2 pts.try this if you want to know what i mean. guys like croshere will get many points from this, which should not be the case.this will be even more effective when used with guys like dirk nowitzki because he has the height and shooting touch.of course you can bring the block shots slider up,but this will result in ridiculously high numbers.

realistic stats, not so many turnovers, not so many blocks, players who are not supposed to dunk in traffic is fixed.
So here are the REVISED sliders:

USER Sliders / CPU Sliders

Dunk vs. Lay-up Frequency: 2 / 2 (fixed the small pg's dunking on traffic)

kobelive, can i use ur sliders for 12min qtr in superstar level?will i still get realistic stats?

Thu Dec 16, 2004 8:13 pm

yes you can, just change the dunk v.s. lay-up frequency to 3 or 4 because it would be difficult to dunk on superstar with a setting of 2. also decrease the game speed a little bit maybe 45 will do, if you still get high scores then decrease it again.... hope that helps..... enjoy.....

Hi blradi. I deleted your other thread as we're keeping all slider discussions in a centralised topic for ease of searching.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what I can do. Reducing the number of dunks is easy; just lower the slider. I'll definitely suggest lower dunk sliders for both the Human and CPU when I post a revised set of sliders.

I'm settled with sliders .... am dying for some updates to player ratings but?

fgrep, anybody else? !! :P

Yer I do and it helps a lot, slows the game down much more.

I have the problem of too little steals, especially with my players, like it shudnt be that hard to get 3 steals a game with T-Mac ( I know its a little unrealistc, but if you try hard it should be achievable)

The only steals i get are intercepts by the players that i arent controlling.

Any tips on stealing the ball with the player you are controling?

its more timing then anything when i play. i usually guard the guy with the ball and just try and get the steal but sometimes i get faked out and leads to an easy basket for the cpu. another way is try getting in the way of the cpu when they are pro-hoping and you will knock the ball loose.
