Trade suggestions

Postby Mentally Hilarious on Thu Mar 24, 2005 2:05 am

A new trade topic, just for you.

Anyhow, having trouble figuring out a trade for my Orlando dynasty, I'm just stuck I guess.

I want to offload Francis and Christie (11 mil and 7 mil/year) for a taller shooter for the 2 and a decent backup for Hill. Been thinking about Redd, but can't get it to work salary-wise and to get a somewhat realistic trade.

Tips anyone?

Salary goes to hell, which is bad, and Hill is still my no.1 SF.

But I have hopes on a Battie+Francis for Allen+Ridnour. Salary matches very well and I will have the option of not resigning Allen and moving for Redd or some other interesting FA in the off-season.

And a rotation of Ridnour and Nelson at the 1 is just what I love to play with, and when the time comes I can choose one of them to make my starter.

I dunno, but it feels alright so far. The realism is questionable of course, but hey.

Not really. Seattle could make that trade if they knew Allen would not resign in the summer. Trading him and Luke for Francis would get them more than just letting him walk after 1 year. Sound good...

I lived in Seattle for 6 years, a Ray Allen trade at the start of this season would have been very realistic. Remember back then everyone thought Seattle was crazy to trade Gary Payton. There have been Ray Allen trade rumors going on for years.

Yay for pulling up somewhat old threads!

Anyhow, the Allen-deal went great with Allen leading the league in points, and Hill being a borderline MVP. Ridnour is definetly playing like I want my starting PG to play. Excellente!

C - Cato/Ramos
PF - Howard/Garrity
SF - Hill/Turk/Stevenson
SG - Allen/Stevenson/Turk
PG - Ridnour/Nelson

But, and here is the reason for pulling this bastardo up again:

Allen for 14 mil/y
Hill for the same amount

Over the cap with 22 mil.

That equals that I can't afford to resign any of them, or afford any nice FA's. What the hell should I do? Still a few weeks to the deadline.

Try to trade like 2 players for a large expiring contract.

Why can't you afford to resign any of them? Salary cap only affects signing other teams FA's... not your own. Just resign Allen and Hill and forget ever signing another team's FA.

If you want to sign another team's FA, just do a "sign&trade" like the real Knicks did with te Bulls for Jamal Crawford.

You can still resign them even tho you're going over the cap. Larry Bird rights or something like that.

Also here's a tip to sign some nice free agents. In the offseason after the draft, click sign free agents and even tho you are over the cap you can sign the cheaper free agents. I sign all the rookies who werent signed that have at least a 50 overall rating some even with a 55 rating. Because they are young, after training camp their ratings jump pretty high. You now have a full roster, while keeping you main stars and have a team for the future. This also helps if you want to trade someone, you can throw in the rookie you dont want as an extra incentive that usually will make the other team accept the trade since the computer usually falls for the 2 average players is better than 1 better player thinking.

I'm interested to see where Ray Allen goes IRL, since he couldn't come to term w/ the Sonics.

y would u want redd when u have allen he is taller and he shoots better. redd is a left handed allen. and i think hill is contract will probably decrease so u wouldn't worry. i suggest moving ramos and cato for someone dependable. the center out there all hover around 55-65. pick up even a crappy free agent i have been using wang zhi zhi and he is great he shoots 1 three a game. i also have steven hunter he is good too dunk + block

Sure, why not. Rob Babcock resigns cause he sucks! And a new GM brings him back and says it will be Vince's team... he would come back... he resigned with Toronto a few years ago when everyone said he would leave... sounds good... nets would not trade him back thouth
