Inbounding the Ball

I like how the inbounding was changed so you control a player on the court, but it needs to be fixed a little because it's too easy to stnad in front of the man being passed to and intercept the ball.
What they need to also add is setting picks while your are trying to get the ball, they should actually have inbounds plays where a guy runs around a couple of screens to come get the ball. If its an inbound after a timeout, during the timeout you can pick who you want the ball to go to and you can run some screens to get them open.

Another thing is to have the inbounder be more effective in like a game winning situation the inbounder will inbound then pop to the corner for the three.
I saw Detroit run this inbounds play to Billups a few times it was like an inbounds and shot in the corner, it isn't bad, my highschool team back in the say had that.

Also I'd like to be able to call for screens, if you can't shake your man, you can call for a screen so your man can get stuck behind the screen, and you can get open. Pressing the play calling button while running will bring one of the big men to set a screen for you.

One more thing is while running you should be able to do fakes and cuts, the other freestyle analog stick will be for doing fakes etc.

The normal pass button will be to inbound to the guy you're controling, and the shoot button will be to inbound to the secondary guy who the AI will control and try to free incase you can't get it to the first guy.

Last thing is their should be an option to turn on a little countdown clock while you're inbounding, so you know when the time is running out and you have to call a timeout or quickly get the ball in.

I agree with you except about the call for screen thing, you can do that with the quickplays already. I really want inbounds plays, I just played a game and was up 1 point with 2 ticks left and Jermaine O'Neal never moved and ended up catching the ball and throwing up a turn-around 3. Ghey.

Oops forgot about the playcalling, but yea their needs to be inbound plays, it'll be sweet to have some play where the defense collapses and doubles your star who then kicks it out to the open man in the corner for the three. :D
Another thing that needs fixing is the passing, but I heard it was fixed

Amen to inbounds plays. I've been wanting that for years.

Usually if a defender is near you can use off-ball freestyle.

In a close game with just seconds left it would be nice to be able to call a play that gets your shooter open. Off ball freestyle is definetly better than nothing though.

I want to see much, much, much more off-ball screens in general. In the real game of basketball, off-ball screens are as vital as any part of the offence. I hope they can incorporate that aspect into next year's Live, but my hopes are not high. It seems to me like EA tries too hard to come up with gameplay that caters to the mass enjoyment and not enough for the basketball gurus that wants the game to simulate the real thing as closely as possible. I refuse to call a basketball game a simulation until they have off-ball screens.

Something that would be a nice add on is after they score, you are able to pick up the ball when your PG is pressured and run the baseline. I would like to see Make your own offensive play. Like in Madden where you could do that.

That'd be tight :D

I would have a lot of fun with that.

I'd love to set up a play where all 5 players stand between the three point line and halfcourt line...just to screw the computer when they try to double team you with the clock winding down (although 4 corners works well for that also. It would be a variation.)

Damn that would be cool. :) There have been countless games lost in the last seconds because of the lack of organization at the end like a center getting the ball for the last shot (or not getting/shooting a 3 pointer when you're down by 3... Stupid cpu takes a 2 instead.)

All this can go away when theres some sort of 'Play Making' mode. I really think EA should consider this; after all, we play as 'Head Coach' in the game, mind as well make few plays to win the game.
