Dunk Contest

I think that since they are adding the freestyle air that we might see a dunk contest in the game.It would be good if this was bought in and the three point contest came back for a better allstar weekend.

yep that would be certainly great...

and maybe this would be kindda outta topic but EA should also include some rituals during charity stripes and make more unique animations to famous players, so they would look different from other crappy players when they're playing

It certainly would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. Those are extras that most players would gladly forego if it meant improvements to the gameplay and Dynasty Mode. In recent years the community has stressed substance before glitz, and NBA Live 2004 is an example of this. Some of the biggest gripes regarding NBA Live 2003 - exaggerated blocking, a lack of D, realistic scores impossible to attain playing 12 minute quarters - were addressed in NBA Live 2004. For some people it required tweaking the sliders a little, but for those of us who are willing to give EA a fair go, the improvements were clear.

From the brief glimpse we've seen of Freestyle Air, it would probably make for a great dunk contest mode. But from experience, I prefer not to get my hopes up about the side game modes until I see a little more evidence that they're going to be included.

I won't hold my breath either. I think they should at least put a streetmod or the whole allstar weekend and not just a Dunk and 3point competition.
For real, all i want is extra game modes and creativity.

the dunk contest would be, in my opinion, just another feature to list on the box to sell the game. in game, i don't honestly see how it would be too incredibly interesting. i mean, i'm all for more features, as many features as possible, and making nba live as much like the NBA as possible, so i'm definitely not against the idea, especially incorporating this into dynasty mode (keeping track of past winners of dunk contest, 3 point shootout, maybe even a rookie/soph game??)....but what i'm saying is that it would just be a nice little glamour feature...not anything earth-shattering WOW THIS IS SO MUCH FUN....i guess what my point is, is i'm not gonna get very excited at the prospect of it, because i know that it will just probably be one more thing to complain and bitch about how it needs improving

all i want is; more/better dunks/layups animations and improved/more free stlye movements.

Even if there is a good dunk contest next year which i doubt how fun will it be??
Once u have done it 1 or 2 times it will just get boring doing the sames moves all the time, crappy players doing the same dunks than VC and i think the list would be long...
I think EA should concentrate on gameplay, realism, dynasty cuz it needs improvement.

I agree. But I'd like to have both.

I think we'd all take improvements and enhancements to Dynasty Mode and the gameplay before extras like a dunk contest. I'm all for significant improvements before glitz, but a dunk contest would be one of those fun distractions, when you have a few minutes to spare. The same goes for the three point shootout. I'd like to see both in the game, but by all means sacrifice them for more worthwhile enhancements.

Hi to everyone!!!!!!!!!i´m a newbie....i would like the full all stars weekend including dunk contest, 3 point contest, the rokkie all stars game and the seniors all stars game....and it would be intresting if they would do an option that you can play 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 streetball....

With the new freestyle air control, i think they will have a 3 point contest. I would also like the 3 point contest to come back as well. It's really not that hard putting those activities into the game since they already had the 3 pt contest before and with the new freestyle air, it shouldnt be that hard to host a dunking contest. the only thing is, will it be in the dynast mode?

3 point contest we could see in L2005. However dunk contest? I don't believe so. It is too much for them. I will not include that. Too much time consuming. They have to come up with hundreds and hundreds of dunk to make it fun and that is not characteristic of them.
Other than that, dunk contest would be nice if they could include "many" different dunk according to dunk abilitiy. Creat your own dunk? ha! too much effort for them. I dont see it coming.

Yes it WOULD be alot of work BUT freestyle air is all about moving in air. If you can control your body movements in mid-air, then surely you can control your arms to throw the ball down.
