Sock Colors

On PS2, why can't I change the real players sock colors? I'm in a dynasty mode and I'm playin with Miami. I'm tryin to give some of the players black sock through the "Edit Player" tool, but I can't even scroll down to it. Why would it be greyed out?

The other socks have to be unlocked first in order to be used,which is why they are greyed out.
