August 25, 2004 - Craig Hodges could shoot. He might not have always been employed, but the man sure could light it up in the three-point contest. In fact, he was so good in the competition that one year the NBA let him defend his title even though the Bulls had cut him. There he was in some warm-up sweats and a generic jersey while everyone else was reppin' their colors, flashing their shine, and talking about the best places to invest their millions.

Hodges still holds the record for most points in a round (25), and along with Larry Bird, is the only other player to ever win the competition three times.

Now it's your turn as NBA Live 2005 turns the competition polygonal, providing you the opportunity to select one of the top deep threats from around the league to shoot lights out, scoring one point for every regular shot and two points for every money ball. In all, you have 60 seconds to score as many points as possible (tie breakers are 24 seconds), and each rack of balls carries 4 regular and 1 money ball, adding up to a perfect possible score of 30.

And as you find your stroke, you'll notice the distinct shooting styles. Everything from Antoine Walker's push shot from the side to the classic Steve Nash follow through will be in the game as the producers promise 35 distinct shooting styles will be represented. You will even be able to compete as legends like Larry Bird, Bob Cousy, and The Big O.

Do you have what it takes to be the next Craig Hodges? The next shooter to wander on the court and hold their own against some of the finest shooters in the world (not that nay of them were asked to be on the Olympic team). A shooter not intimidated by credentials or logos, just a player with the skills to bring home the trophy.

If you think you can handle the pressure, then step up to NBA Live 2005 when it hits this October. If you're able to win, you never know, you might even be treated to a trophy ceremony with Mr. NBA himself, David Stern.

Unlike Hodges, however, your player will actually need to be part of a team before competing.

That, and don't expect to be able to cash the check.

Banks don't seem to honor polygons as payola.

I think it SLIGHTLY moves, just barely though! .... The rim doesnt move! When Ray Allen misses the one shot, the rim doesnt even budge!

EDIT

The jerseys move but not like ESPNs. They are more realer because they chnge creases in the air on both shorts and jersey{shorts also move regularly}.

If you notic there are no creases when there just still and standing, but once they move the shorts will move{realisticly} also and changes creases. But when there in the air the jersey will crease up and the waist of the jersey folds{if you didn't notice that its usually straight} :D

Thu Aug 26, 2004 1:57 pm

Thu Aug 26, 2004 4:10 pm

The Houston form looks awesome.

Fri Aug 27, 2004 1:22 am

I think it would've been even better to have the forms during 5on5 play too

the headbands might've been fixed. they definately seem flatter in the dunk contest than in the 3pt contest. i too give some of my CAP's headbands, but i hope it's been fixed.

The headbands look like the ones in '04. I hope it won't be like that when it comes out.
