:? Is this final...or was he just there to support the Live 05 campaign?

Like all the players in the 04 video saying "it's in the game" stuff?

I dont think a rookie should be on the cover, Davis or Marbury werent bad idea's.. :?

naslund for nhl! That chump has been bitching about wanting to go back to Europe after this season.

Anyway Carmelo wouldn't be surprising in a way, but surprising in a way. Surprising sicne he was just on March Madness (and Steph should be on the cover) but no because he had a great year, but suprising because if they were to pick a rook Bron is the logical choice (and Steph deserves it.)

New Hit Stick — Change the momentum of a game by using the right analog stick to make a huge hit, force a turnover, and send the crowd into a frenzy. Time it just right or you’ll get burned for a big play.
New Defensive Playmaker Control — You are now in complete control on defense. Modify pre-snap assignments, including double teams and player-specific match ups, for any defensive player on the field.

New Storyline Central — Get inside the NFL like you never have. Now your games are impacted by the stories that surround your team. Satisfy your star WR’s demands or watch your team chemistry suffer. Get the scoop from local and national newspapers, email from assistant coaches, and Tony Bruno’s weekly radio talk show.

Enhanced Franchise Mode — Players now react to everything that happens in the franchise—reward a hard-working player by naming him team captain or trade away unhappy players. The new game-by-game progression system rewards players for their performance during the season.

New Fan Presentation — Your team’s crowd is now customizable with new Create-a-Fan. Be on the lookout for team-specific super fans via all-new 3D fan scenes.

New EA SPORTS™ Online — Take on the best Madden players in quick tournaments, or compete in a mini-game of Rushing Attack. Improved EA SPORTS Fair Play keeps the playing field level.

Freestyle Control: Brings brand new moves and puts even more control into the user’s hands, also allowing further player differentiation with signature moves. Offensive improvements include new user-controlled put-back and tip-in technology, new in-air shot adjustments, and new Alley-Oop pass and reception animations. Defensive additions include new scenarios for both dunks and jump shots, and shot block scenarios from behind and the side.

New Graphics Engine: Vividly reproduces each NBA player to reach new heights, utilizing improved body types with higher-resolution textures used for faces, uniforms, tattoos and accessories.

Player Animation: 10-man Freestyle this year gives you all-new in-air scenarios and realistic player movement.

Basically the same stuff as last year + in air freestyle. Wow...

Carmelo Anthony, representing NBA LIVE 2005

He may or may not be on the cover, but it's a strong possibility if that article is anything to go by.

Excellent post Jackal...that illustrates perfectly to me why the EA Canada Live team should be fired. Plain and simple. They took over after Live 2000 and the game's progression has been erratic and barely improving ever since.

Just compare it to Madden...which gets exponentially better every single year. I can't honestly say that Live 2004 is a better game than Live 2001.

Thu May 13, 2004 12:36 am

He's on the cover...there's an article that refers to him as the cover athlete.

Thu May 13, 2004 2:52 am

Well that's pretty disgusting in my humble opinion.

As I said, there are more deserving players out there. Pierce, Marbury, Matrix, Davis...*sigh* Oh well...EA, I dont buy the game for your coverboys...but this time I'm appalled. :?

The only thing better than 2004 compared to 2001...well not better, just the new feature we got, were the sliders, nada mas.

Oh...how could I forget, they changed the name from Franchise mode to Dynasty mode. :o

Thu May 13, 2004 4:10 am

I like Carmelo. I think he would be a nice coverboy.

ps. EA spelled Näslunds's name wrong... It's Markus Näslund, not Markes.
I meen if he's the cover-boy then they should at least spell his name correcly...

Thu May 13, 2004 7:28 am

Pierce was on Inside Drive last year, and Marbury is on the cover of NBA Ballers.

I wanted Baron Davis.

Thu May 13, 2004 8:16 am

Oh well, scrap Marbury & Pierce.

Davis is more deserving!!

Thu May 13, 2004 8:58 am

I don't think it really matters. If you wanted the best players, it would be Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and Shaq all of the last 5 years, and Michael Jordan in the other years of NBA Live's existence. I like Carmelo, and it's good that he's on the cover. It doesn't really make a difference who is on the cover, anyway. I don't care if Christian Laettner is on the cover, as long as it's a good game.

Thu May 13, 2004 1:13 pm

KG was 2001 cover.
Shaq is cover of that horrendous Xbox sports game...
and Timmy D is the cover of backyard bastketball thing - -;;

Why not Jordan?
Yes, it's suggested EVERY SINGLE YEAR and never hapens.
but why not?
Yes, he hasn't even played this year.
But then Jordan's never been the cover and he deserves to be a cover some year.
Oh well...I guess it will be Melo or LeBron...I prefer LeBron..

Why not Dwayne Wade?
This coming from just seeing the Pacers @ Heat game...man..Wade is definitely not a rrookie now..

Thu May 13, 2004 2:47 pm

It should be my man sprewell :D

Thu May 13, 2004 3:06 pm

Didnt' spreewell choke his coach before or something? (not kill him)

i remember that incident.

Thu May 13, 2004 7:26 pm

He also refused to leave his battledog though his dog had biten off a piece of his daughters ear.

And he was caught for speed driving by an asian policeofficer which he then shouted racist words against.

Not that nice coverboy eeh?

Fri May 14, 2004 1:00 am

That happened when he was playing at Golden State, right? Didn't he choke PJ Carlesimo?

Why can't Jermaine O'Neal be on the cover? Is he on another game? :?:

Fri May 14, 2004 1:55 am

Tim Duncan was the cover player for NBA Live 2000, but MJ appeared in a "Jordan is Back!" strip to promote the fact he was one of the Legends included in NBA Live 2000.
