PC Requirements

Postby super_greg on Sun Aug 22, 2004 11:50 am

Have there been any indications of what the PC requirements are going to be for this game? Or does anyone want to make an educated guess?

I'm guessing the minimum requirements won't be too much higher than NBA Live 2004. I'll see if I can find some more accurate info before the Q&A.

No, it won't. Nothing past NBA Live 98 should run on that. :?

OK, this is what I've been told. Please keep in mind that these are subject to change pending further testing.

  • Intel Pentium III 700 MHz or greater
  • 128 MB RAM or greater
  • 700 MB Hard Disk space
  • 32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card
  • DirectX 9.0a or later
  • 16x or faster CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive
  • Windows 98/2000/ME/XP (Windows 95 and NT not supported)
  • Sound card supporting DirectSound and DirectX 9 driver
  • Internet Explorer 6.01 SP1 or later
  • Keyboard & Mouse
  • Dual Analog Gamepad Strongly Recommended

So for the most part it's the same as last year, though it seems it will need a slightly faster processor.

Andrew, will Live 2005 take advantage of 3.0 shaders on the newer graphics cards. I just saw the new pictures and I noticed that the players look to have a certain "gleem" to them this year.

By the way, I've noticed that Live looks a little better for some reason on ATI cards?

I have a question for the computer geeks under us, my dvd-rom player is kinda messed up, and I was wondering...is it possible to install and play Live trough the DVD burner?

If your dvd drive supports cd-rom playback..then yes.

I just saw in the manual that it can play Music-CDs and DVD-Movies, so Live can be played aswell right?

perhaps...try it. Live is shipped on cd-rom ...your drive needs to be able to read that format for live to be played on your pc. Most dvd drives have cd-rom reading capabilities.

Remember its a burner, not just a player. I dont have alot of knowledge about that so it might sound stupid

Anyway, I played Live 2004 like that last year trough the Burner, but it wont slow my game in anyway or something?

there should be no problem. It should be able to play it just like a regular cd player. the fact that it is a burner has nothing to do with it's cd reading capabilities. it's just an extra asset

I'm sure, that Live won't take advantage of these shaders. There isn't where to take it think..

And about cards, older ATI cards had a little bit better quallity, but on new ATI and nVidia cards it's same..

umm... this might be the only prob I have with the requirements... my comp easily passes the others, but I'm not sure if my card is good enough.

It's the ATI RADEON IGP 320M.. you guys think it'll work?

To qballer:
Can you play NBA live 2004 with good framerate??? If so, 2005 will not be much of a problem... Except I think you will need to adjust the graphic setting to low or something...
Or you should consider buying a graphic card... They are pretty cheap right now... (Geforce FX 5200/Radeon 9600SE are under US$80)... These should be enough for live 2005...

I returned my Geforce 6800 GT in favor for an ATI x800, problem is I can't find it anyhwere. My buddy has an ATI 9800 Pro and his game looks a lot crisper than mine did on my geforce ti 4600. I'm gonna go with ATI this year.

Man..I can't wait for this game.
