Playing Live 2005 online on PC

Postby NBAJ2K on Wed Jul 28, 2004 2:50 pm

Just wondering how the EA Online matchup thing works. Does it cost monthly? or is it free when u have a valid version of the game?

Just thinking about how it might work. I assume they are going to have it for PC even though below it says just PS2 as they always have.(probably just a console article).

Ball Against the Nation: EA SPORTS Online* allows users to play online against opponents from anywhere in North America (*only available on the PlayStation 2 console). An online lobby area allows gamers to meet, greet, chat, set up tournaments, download roster updates, and play NBA LIVE 2005 head to head. Make it to the top, and then try to maintain your place as the best gamer any where, any time, any place.

Thanks, cant wait for this game to come out!

I don't know about the PS2 one, so I won't even go there.

I can't promise you that 2005 will be the same as 2004, but this is how EA Sports Online is in NBA Live 2004:

The service is free for 1 year as long as you buy the game first-hand. If you buy it 2nd hand, you have to pay for the service. If you are a jerk and rip the game, you can't use it at all.

PS2 has free online capapbilities.

XBox you have to pay for XBox live, which is free for the first year.

PC has one year of free online after that you have to pay.

paying after ONE YEAR??? Argh, I was planning on playing Live 2005 until something new and interesting came out. I can't shell out $40 each year to EA... I got college payments to make...

Also sometime after the season they shut down the online service... there's a notice on the box that they can shut down easo anytime they want or 90 days after said season.. so if you want to continue online you need the new games anyway.
