NBA LIVE 2005 suggestions

Postby c4cpg on Wed Apr 07, 2004 3:51 pm

These are the suggestions I sent EA Sports for NBA LIVE 2005. Its a little long.

1) All-star Weekend. (That includes all of the events.)

2) More shoes from Nike, Reebok, Jordan, Adidas, And1, and DADA.

3) Headband options for the regular players, not just the created ones.

4) Shaq and Ben Wallace body shouldn't change because of editing.

5) Get the coaches more into the game. Technical’s, and discussions with the refs. The players should also talk to the refs from time to time.

6) A ref should pass the ball to the player after free throws.

7) Make coaches more detailed (Don Nelson is not small at all.)

8) T.V. network sponsors.

9) Halftime shows.

10) Locker room activities. (Coaches discussing plays and strategies.)

11) Players should be able to change gear during halftime.

12) Cheerleaders, and Mascots.

13) During timeouts, you could have the people who shoot T-shirts into the stands for the fans, or have the mascot joking around.

14) Players should struggle sometimes and be on fire the next. (The bio rhythm created on ESPN basketball.)

15) More colors for certain shoes.

16) Special All-star game shoes.

17) Street ball Mode. (2-on-2 to 5-on-5, keep the 1-on-1. Or up to 5 players, trying to score 32, or 21. 21 involve free throws after scoring a basket. 2 pointers count as 1 and 3 pointers count as 2. Ball should be cleared if only there aren't more than 3 players on the court.)

18) Have large audiences, for when the players are on a street court.

19) More courts in practice mode.

20) Summer League Mode.

21) 3 way trades.

22) Player intros should be customized to how they're done in each arena. Both teams starting lineups should be announced.

23) A.I. uses more of its bench players in the all-star game.

24) Should be able to participate in warm-ups before the game. The players should be in their warm-ups, this could also help dictate what type of offensive night the player is going to have.

25) Flagrant fouls, and scuffles between players.

26) More variety of dunks.

27) Flashy passes. (No look, behind the back, between the legs, off the glass, and the no look pass.)

28) Preseason games. (These games and the summer league games could be played in the colleges and practice facilities they're played at.)

29) Have the actual practice facilities of teams.(Should have a scrimmage mode in the practice mode, like on Denver Nuggets all access.)

30) Be able to dive for lose balls, when they are going out of bounds.

31) Bigger celebrations during big games, like the finals. Confetti and balloons should drop from the rafters.

32) Have players accepting their awards during games. At all-star game the trophy should be awarded to the M.V.P.

33) Commentators should announce important factors before, during, and after the games.

34) Shaq should have his own power dunks and moves.

35) Crowd should be more into the game depending on game situations.

36) Playground courts and tournaments.

37) Off-season all-star games. (Midsummer Nights Magic and Zo's Summer Groove.)

38) Have actual N.B.A. referees.

39) Have the all time teams.

40) The user should be able to participate in training sessions and workouts.

41) Should be able to make substitutions before dead ball situations.(This would allow the coach to signal the players over to the scores table, until they're able to check into the game. the players should be in their warm-ups and once they remove them, a towel boy should grab them.)

42) Ball, Towel, and mop boys. (Every time a player goes down after a foul, the mop boy should come and wipe the sweat off the court.)

43) Before tip-off, the players should greet one another, rub their feet on that sticky grip stuff, exchange fist to fist, and prepare for tip-off by getting to their places.

44) Every time you go to the rim its to easy to get your shot disrupted, this becomes frustrating because not a lot of fouls are called. There need to be more players who get dunked on, sometimes with defender hanging from them. The dunks should be down right nasty.

45) More media and camera crew on the sidelines, especially at the all-star game and the playoffs.

46) Where are the rest of the players that are supposed to be on the bench? The players that are on the DL, should be in suits or street clothes. Not every player sits with the team, some sit off with the camera crew.

47) Assistant coaches should be in the game.

48) When a player gets injured, trainers should take back to the locker room.

49) The players should start to sweat at some point. Don't have them all greased up like in ESPN basketball.

50) Players should be more active on the bench.(Drink Gatorade, wipe their faces with towels, conversate.)

51) Players should be able to maneuver to do reverse lay-ups, and dunks, when it is needed. The adjusted shots are ok, but they don't look realistic.

52) Players should be able to swat the ball into the stands, off the glass, and down the court. The blocks should vary with, what type of shot is being thrown up. Also the ball can be pinned against the glass.

53) More variety of dunks, and tip dunks. special dunks should be done on fast breaks and in allstar games, or depending on what type of dunker it is.

54) The all-star game shouldn't be filled with that much defense, it should be a loose defensive game, where players don't hustle on defense, but try to please the fans. The only defense should be in the fourth quarter.

55) We need a Rookie game. (If you saw this years featuring LeBron James and A’ mare Stoudemire you'll know why.)

56) 3pt contest. (In season mode, the contestants should be picked on percentage wise and three pointers taken, don't have someone who has only taken 4 and has made all of them.)

57) Variety of crossover dribbles.

58) Make the rim sound realistic. (The real sound is better. Trust me.)

59) More than two commentators. (Bill Walton, Doug Collins, Sean Elliott, Steve Kerr)

60) The coaches with the best record at the all-star break should be coaching the game, not the coaches of last year’s squad.

61) Have the all-star game practices and shoot arounds. (When the players are in their jogging pants or shorts, with practice jerseys on, running the three-man weave and putting on a show before the Rookie game, 3pt. contest. The rookie game should also feature the warm-up mode, where you can do the lay-up line, to show off for the crowd, or become warm.)

62) More in depth practices.(scrimmage, free-throw, and three pointers.)

63) Also in the preseason mode, you can have those scrimmage game the teams always put on for the fans, to get a chance to look at their players.)

64) The better a dunk, the better a response from the crowd.(If your on the road and you throw one down hard, than the crowd should be in a silent awe, if your at home, you should draw a large roar.)

65) How about a Skills competition for the All-star weekend.

66) Different hairstyles, and faces for created players.

67) Allen Iverson, and the rest of the player with braids, should have more hairstyles throughout the game, by what styles they had throughout the season.

68) Ben Wallace hairstyles should change sometimes to.

69) Special all-star player intros.

70) Players Authentic gear.(Allen Iverson, "The Answer" gear, and "I3". Tracy McGrady,"T-Mac gear.")

71) Show players exiting through the tunnel to their locker rooms at halftime.

72) Halftime shoot around option.

73) After a game, players should exchange handshakes and conversate as they leave the court. Stats for the game could be shown while this is happening, the commentators could point out key factors in the game.(This would be after most games, because sometimes the players have to get ready to leave because their plane is on the way, or they have a heated rivalry. In the case of the ladder, the players could just exit the court.)

74) When the players are leaving the court, show some of them talking to reporters.

75) When time is running out and the team is just holding the ball, players should begin to un tuck their jerseys.(Just some players, not all)

76) The coaches should congratulate each other also, the assistants coaches could also have conversation at the end of the game with players.

77) I know this would be tough. The actual shooting, and free-throw shooting styles of the N.B.A. players.

78) Player taunts after a basket. (Shaquille O’Neal’s gorilla walk.)

79) Floor camera.

80) A Footlocker store. You could purchase socks, shorts, shirts, jogging pants, wristbands, finger bands, and rubber bands, all from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, and And1. These could be for use in practice, 1on1 through 5-on5 playground and court settings.

81) Famous outside and indoors courts.

82) Option to change the players sock color.

83) Players should sometimes look up to check the score and stats.

84) Players should congratulate a free-throw shooter.

85) The bench should be more into the game if big free throws are being taken.

86) After a foul, don't just go to the free throw; have the players setting up for the free throw.

87) During a certain number of games, there could be a problem with the shot clock. (Just to add to realism.)

88) When a player is going up for a dunk and a shot blocker is going to block the shot, the player shouldn't look like he wants his shot to get block, he should sometimes be able to dunk over, or on the shot blocker (actual body to body contact.)

89) An option for a fulltime out and a 20second timeout. (To see how the players and coaches set up during these different timeouts, watch an actual game, and duplicate that into the game.)

90) When players dive out of bounds and are headed for the bench, allow the players and coaches to help the player break his fall.

91) Different suits for the coaches.

92) Players pre tip-off traditions. (Kevin Garnett slapping talcum powder in his hands.)

93) During the game setup where the players are usually showing off there skills, you should have players reenacting the N.B.A. s greatest shots and moves. ( Michael Jordan’s game winner at Utah, Allen Iverson’s rookie year crossovers, and more legendary shots to.)

94) In practice sessions, the players could have a choice of the actual practice jerseys, or team T-shirts and gear. (The actual jerseys are nice, but no one practices in those things.)

95) During pregame action, you could show a player/players going through the tunnel, to the teams locker room, with his suit or streetclothes on. This player could be a leading scorer or someone who's supposed to have a major role in the game.

96) During the all-star game and events, you could have cut scenes, where the players are on the court or bench joking around.

97) Be able to personalize gear for created players.

98) Better, smoother looking alley-oops. The user should be able to throw the pass in the air and the retriever should run, jump and dunk it. The ones on 2004 look ok, but most of the time the player has to be close to the basket to execute one, and he stands still until the ball gets to him, it looks kind of awkward. It would be more realistic and entertaining, if you had the players running and catching it and dunking it.

99) Have the actual music that is used in each of the N.B.A. arena's.

100) The actual announcer for each N.B.A. teams.(starting lineup annoncer)

101) During timeouts and pregame shootarounds, you should have music playng and people entering their seats.

102) Be able to split double teams, either to score, or dish the ball off.

103) The ability to fake out the CPU, with pass fakes.(Have the CPU turn around or turn his head, to where he thought the ball was. The crowd should react with ohhs and ahhs.)

104) Players should generate oohs and aahs from the crowd with crowd pleasing moves.

105) Detailed locker room areas.

106) When a player has put up a good performance, he should leave the game to a standing ovation.

107) During the season mode, during games, you could have the sports ticker show all the scores and stats form other games.(like on ESPN.)

108) Be able to crash into camera men on the sidelines.

109) Sometimes after a player scores, he should throw the ball to the referee, on the sideline, to give to the player who is in bounding the ball.

110) Some players could have special makeups for their shoes. (Like the Jordan Brand athletes have their names or numbers on their shoes. sometimes players have shoes and colors only for them. Like Carmelo Anthony has MELO 15 inscribed on his. The players also have special colorways to their shoes that no one else has, this would make the game better because everyone would be looking to see what color Jordans Ray Allen has, or what type of colors do Carmelo have.)

111) You should be able to customize your shoes, with nicknames or numbers and special colorways.(Like in NikeID, only for created players.)

112) During the season, you could show in game highlights of other games going on. (Like during timeouts, or breaks in play.)

113) More player body collisions on dunks.

114) Specail shoe color ways for other players.( You can get an idea of what I'm talking about by going to www.niketalk.com)

115) If your going to have Jordan Brand shoes in the game, than have all of the Jordan Brand shoes, not just a select few.

116) Make it so that the jersey's on the player's move according to the player's body movement. The uniforms look glued to the player's

117) Change the way substitution's work. You can't make a substitution after a player has shot his last free-throw.

118) Depending on the type of player, have the player kick back his head and yell out, after he has just dunked on someone.

119) Depending on the player, allow the player to execute more crowd pleasing dunks during breakaway's.

120) Bigger celebrations, depending on big play's and shot's.

121) Change the way the fan animation looks. Make them at least look like real people and not cardboard cutouts.

122) In the Dynasty and season mode, you could have the olympic games, and the player's should be selected just as they are in real life.

123) NBA Live 2005 shouldn't be without the greatest team ever assembled, the DREAM TEAM. The player's should also wear the shoes and gear they wore in the Monte Carlo games.

124) Have the actual attendance on the game. Lakers regular season games are rarely empty. You also need to add more attendance with how good the team is doing.

125) The centers shouldn't stray to far away from the basket on offense.

126) Make the player's body more detailed to how they are in real life.

127) I noticed that several players tatto's are missing.

128) Better looking finishes on player's who try to draw charges.

129) It should be tough to score against defender's like Ron Artest and Bruce Bowen. They should hold, grab, and bump you. It shoould also be hard to get free for open shots with them guarding you.

130) The player's in the game and the coaches should argue missed calls by the refs.

131) It should be physical when there is a rebound to grab, there should be lots of contact and boxing out for position.

132) The only time you can put the ball back in the rim on an offensive rebound is by tip dunking it. There should be tip ins.

133) Tim Duncan's shots off the glass.

134) Better looking floaters and runners.

135)Agressive post player's like Shaq and Ben Wallace, should alter and block shot's. They should make it difficult when you get the ball to the hole.

136) More aggressive and powerful tip dunks.

137) Certain cross-over moves should make defenders stumble and rarely fall, when they lose their balance. A good cross-over should sometimes freeze the defender, or make him go the other way.

138) The ability to spin through the defense on some plays.

139) Realistic rim. THe rim should move according to how the ball hits it. It should also bend down when someone has just dunked it.

140) When players miss tip dunks it just looks stupid. Have them actually grab the rim and come down, not come down off balance.

141) Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson's head bang celebration after they score. Doug Christie's salute to his wife when he scores.

142) After a good assist, players should point to another, or give a pat on the rear.

143) Make the scene of an injury look real, teammates crowding around with personal trainers. If the injury looks serious and he is carried off the court, there should be some applause.

144) Make winning the championship, actually look like someone has just won it for real, The celebrations should be longer and more intresting.

145) Reduce the sliding effect in the game. This causes too many unecessary turnovers. It would also make the freestyle control better.

146) Some defenders should cringe when their about to get dunked on.

147) Their should be the pre-game shooting. (When the players are on the court with trainers, who paa them the ball after shots. The players attire usually consist of a team T-shirt and the game shorts, or practice shorts.)

148) Free-throw distractons. (Thunder sticks and posters)

149) Off the ball fouls.

150) Off the ball picks and screens, to open up the offensive player for a shot.

151) Jump ball situations. (Such as both players fighting over possession of the ball.)

152) Replays of highlights should be shown during dead ball situations. Commentators should also comment on moves made in the replay.

153) Players shouldn't swing their elbows when they are intentionally fouled.

154) Certain dunkers should have dunks only they can do.(Like Vince Carter, Jason Richardson, or Shaq)

155) If you place a player on the injured lsit in the season, or dynasty mode he shouldn't be able to play until 5 games.

156) Longer cut scenes when recieving awards.

157) Make the net more real to.

158) Work on the gliches, (like you're able to dunk through the backboard.)

159) When you get to the playoffs, you should have the playoff, and Finals logo stitched onto your jersey.

160) Make it difficult to guard guys like Allen Iverson, Kobe, and Tracy McGrady. Make the user have to come up with strtegies to limit their shots and touches.

161) Don't have the Dunk contest mode in game mode. It should only be available if you play the season.

162) More in depth half-time commentary.

163) There should be a plays of the week in season mode, showing all the best dunks and moves.

164) More Throwback uniforms.

165) For the playground modes and pre-game shootarounds gear idea.(If the player is signed to a certain shoe brand, like Nike, Reebok...etc. than that player should wear that gear during these types of games and game modes.

166) When a team calls a timeout before a replay, you can't view it anymore, because the time is cut short.

167) Last. Focus on the little things in a game, this brings more realism to the game. Just continue watching games and getting ideas. Another thing, every game should be a unique experience, it shouldn't be the same thing over and over, that's why the bio-rythm will not allow the same player to dominate all the time. Too many times the computers make mistakes, like catching the ball on the side three point line and turns around to recieve a turnover. You could also have players chewing gum, or other little deatails. With the above suggestions lets make EA Sports NBA Live 2005 the best basktball game ever.

Thank you. I think all of those ideas would greatly improv the game, because you'd get something different everytime you play.

The thing with great idea's is, there is no limit to them. I just thought of player taunts like Dikembe Mutombos' finger waving after he blocks a shot, I also have came up with more modes in training, like a weight room mode. I still have a lot of ideas, and all of these ideas are either new, or things you can do to improve the game. How many of us have played live, and dominated with the same player game after game, or how many of us gets like 7 blocks with just one player. Things seriously needed to be upgraded, and some added stuff would make NBA LIVE 2005 a must have for every gamer, whether you like basketball or not, because you get a put into a different situation every game, which is more realistic. We all need to take the time out and mail these companies our ideas, and improvements, because after all, we're the one's paying for them hopefully my idea's get incorporated into next years game. I believe with the power of these forums, our voices can be heard. Since I can't do the patch thing, I need variety. So hopefully.

nba live 2005

Postby lethaldj13 on Tue Apr 20, 2004 10:20 am

thats all really cool........ heard about the "freestyle air" ive read it somewhere it says it might be featured in the next version of nba live.
When you take of for the dunk you must move your right analog stick to execute what dunk you want to do and even evade defender in the air..... theres some screen shots of lebron laying it in under vince's arm.
Hey what about for pc, pc dont have right analog sticks....
that would be hard... But i still hope ea pay attention to us gamers about what we wanted to happen in the next nba live .

Those are all some really great things to wish for a basketball game to have but NBA Live has too many problems to put all these anesthistic things on instead. Screw newer graphics, screw new features,
fix prohop,
fix the catchup AI or just fix the AI in general,
have the computer beat us with strategy no cheating,
the only time when you can't run into a defender is when you are running into his chest straight on not when your running into his leg (the players are 5 foot wide walls)
no player should slide anyway (see this ALL time time when the computer's layup animation is set, press the take charge button a second too slow, your on ice)
double team needs to be fixed

Live 2004 has lots of good elements but just too many little problems and bugs...

Freestyle Air seems like a good idea but i'm not gonna care about it too much until they improve the gameplay. And stop screwing the keyboard users over, we pay for this game too and deserve a right to not have to spend another 30-50 bucks just to play the game 'properly'
