DBF batch editing

Postby avig1 on Wed Oct 08, 2014 12:59 pm

I've started to try playing the older NBA live games, and I wanted to try out the Dynasty mode in live 2004. I'm trying to edit all the birthdate values in the players.dbf back by 11 years so the ages will be right in Dynasty mode, but I dont know of any dbf editor that can do that without manually editing each value.
Thanks

The method I use, as devised by JaoSming:

JaoSming wrote:well what I do is copy out the entire column to a new spreadsheet

paste it in then a few cells away, in the same row though, type = then click the top birthdate then add the -50000

once that is in, select the cell with the updated birthdate, youll see a little black square in the bottom right of the cell

click, hold, and drag that down till you edit all of the values

then copy it back into the dbf

For reference, -50000 = five years.

Yeah thats exactly what I've been trying to do, but how do you copy the entire column over from a spreadsheet into the dbf. Doesnt seem to work for me.

Use a program like MS Excel. You just have to be careful to save in the correct format (.dbf, DBASE IV), otherwise you'll corrupt the database.
