Technically, nothing has changed since my last patch. Try to check, if some files are missing or if you had combined many different patches that are conflicting. Since I reduced (just 2 are left) the number of in-the-game-created-players I had no game crashes at all. Problems could be with overloaded files, but if you compare my patched .viv-files with the Originals, there's just a lil different. The same problem can be with the .dbf files, especially when creating many players in the game, all the noted birthplaces will be saved in mydocuments\NBA Live 2004\database\'there in 3 folders' currentdb + workingdb + originaldb. These files are birthstate.dbf and birthtown.dbf. I've fixed them to add some birthplaces for current players by a SUBSTITUTION of birthplaces in that file that are not connected to any player (there are several like that), so these files are NOT overloaded as well. Another crashing problem could be with my selected graphic configuration. I've chosen max. details, but just the resolution of 800x600 on 16bit. So I don't know.
When no files are missing, I would try to use the VER2 .viv + .fsh files and the VER1 file for mydocuments \NBA Live 2004. Then overwrite ONLY the folder 001 in mydocuments\NBA Live 2004\saves with VER2. If this won't to do it... I would have no idea.
A few minutes ago, I've downloaded my own patch like eb can and substituted my files in mydocuments\NBA Live 2004 with those of my patch (there are less savegames). Everything worked fine. Except a detail with the scoreboard. I really missed a file in my patch. Now you can download that file to get a great looking scoreboard. This could be another problem. I've tried to start the game without this missing file and it worked (but scoreboard looked ugly). I remember that sb was answering in Gcraze topic his game would be crashing. On my computer it works pretty fine, but maybe not on yours. For that you could use the xoverlay.viv + xoverfng.viv file of VER1 or the Originals. That's all I can say.
Hope, you're gonna fix it and that game is not crashing for eb:-(
