Updated Records for NBA Live 2004

As I mentioned in this retrospective, I've been considering going back and tinkering with my 1995/1996 Season Mod for NBA Live 2004. I've done just that with a big v2.0 update, some ten years after the last release! The new version has final season rosters, and a bunch of corrections.

There are a few things I'd still like to tweak at some point, and I might give logo updates a shot too (unless someone else wants to give them a go, in which case I'd be glad of the contributions!), but this is still a fairly substantial update. I've even put together a cover for the occasion, based on the box art for NBA Live 96 PC.

As you might know, the records in NBA Live 2004's Hall of Fame section only go back to the 1999 season. Since that data is stored in DBF files, I figured it should be easy enough to update. I gave it a shot, and sure enough, we can have complete records, going right back to the first BAA/NBA season!

Place these files in the database folders, and you'll be set. Note that I haven't updated the All-NBA, All-Defensive, or All-Rookie teams at this time, since that's a lot of work. I might give it a try at some point and release a new version, but in the meantime, the champions, conference champions, and individual award winners have all been updated.

My favorite season, 1995-96. I remember installing this mod to NBA Live 2004 back in 2007, when I first bought the game. Around the time there was a guy in forum who made realistic stadiums for this project (probably hokupguy). Good times.

I saw that you still work with this, so I decided to help you. There goes my first patch in a year:

Uniforms that came up with your add-on were terrible so I decided to create one from scratch. Numbers, letters, jersey are all done by me.

They look great. Thanks! If you're willing to work on a couple of other jerseys, the numbers on the Sonics jerseys are also a bit buggy and are in need of a fix.

I also realised that I do have a pack of 1996 logos already. Looks like I can definitely do some more work with the '96 mod in the not too distant future.

Yeah, I actually noticed the thread today and checked my archives. I've got them, so I'll implement them in a future release. Apart from that, I think the Sonics jerseys are the only thing that's problematic, at least art-wise.

Got the latest jerseys in place (thanks again, Murat!) and also imported the '96 logos by pksts, which I realised were re-uploaded last year and in my archives. Here are a few previews:







v3.0 will basically be close to being a complete conversion. I've also updated the birth years for all the players added in v2.0, which will make their ages accurate in Dynasty Mode. Aside from a few possible ratings updates, and perhaps trying to make it more compatible with other mods (ie custom art method for the logos, nothing overwritten), it'll be more or less final. Nice to have it all come together, all these years later.

Some of the players have black shoes at my game. Can you please give respective shoes to everyone? Also I started to compile some faces from other mods - there will be less created players.

If you've got any specific suggestions for shoes, I can make a note of them.

Just give random fitting (color-wise) numbers to every player. that's it

Also some of the players have wrong numbers (e.g. Damon Stoudamire should wear #20, not #3)

Since the new version has end of season rosters, I've updated the records as of the end of the 1996 season, rather than the final 1995 season standings.



Fixed Sonics jerseys are just some of the great updates that Murat has provided.



Note that like all players, MJ's birth year has been brought forward so that his age in Dynasty Mode is correct as of 1995.





Thanks to pksts, the mod will now have accurate logos, with a very 90s aesthetic!

2.0 came out before all the great updates Murat has been making, but they're in place for 3.0.

Probably soon. I was waiting to see if Murat had any more art updates ready to go, but if he's done for the moment, then I should be able to finalise 3.0 shortly.

I guess if anything looks out of place or incorrect, that'd be good to know! All jersey numbers should be correct as of 2.0, but there's always the possibility that I missed a couple. Positions, ratings, shoes...suggestions and corrections are welcome. If it doesn't make the cut for 3.0, I can always do another release after that. At this point, most further work would be fine tuning or adding new art updates if any, so I'm happy to keep working on it every now and again. The major work has been done.
