I figured it out, I have some amazing findings. Ill share all of them later.

To fix the players posture, use the 2K17 hihead.scne file, you just need to copy ALL of the text under "Model" "player" in hihead.scne up to "Prim", and paste it into the hihead.scne from 2K18 that you are using. The player now stands up perfectly straight, and the clipping is minimal. Not only that, when you shrinkwrap from 2K17, it's only very small edits to make it work.

Don't touch the vertex section in the hihead.scne, it will create a black line going down the players right leg. I have all the accessories and jerseys fitting perfect on both Westbrook and Pierce. Pierce had a very slight eye bugging issue, but I went into Blender and brought his eyes in a tad, and it fixed the issue.

This has been a great team effort. A lot of trial and error. The players no longer change forms in edit player or on court, they dont glitch at all. Looking completely forward.

I guess my question is where does the process of going from 2k17 to 2k18 stand? I’ve been trying to follow this to the best of my ability. This progress is almost entirely 2k18 to 2k17 correct?

Kind of my fault, as I've been experimenting with the 2K17 conversions (which has been entirely worth it, mind you).

I don't mind moving the convo to the 2K17 section, but I think that some of the conversation translates to both games language. Thinking it may be helpful just keep it all here.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredible to see this develop the way it has and it will open up numerous possibilities. I was more so just asking where 2k18 development was left and if anyone has looked to continue that aspect.

Not to be rude in your part Dee but i remember one time you commented in Awei's thread that his jordan is not so much of an improvement , also the thread title is also misleading of what its content. I hope lets stick to what the title of thread says. Peace to all modders in NLSC.

Apologies to everyone as the thread has probably been hard to follow, and the title may have been confusing as it had not been updated since the point in time in which the only discoveries were in 2K18. My impression from the very beginning was that we were posting everything here while we iron the kinks out for both games since the processes are intertwined, and then we would create a new thread for each game so that we can map out the process for the particular game. Myself and likely a couple others that have been collaborating kind of had tunnel vision while trying to figure all of these things out. The last developments in 2K18 were not as clear as they should have been as our attention quickly shifted to figuring out conversions the other way to 2K17. To my understanding, the conversion process to 2K18 is complete, aside from some potential shrinkwrapping in blender and some tinkering with the THICK and THIN values in the apperance_info.RDAT file to get accessories to fit, but all the glitching has been worked out.

To recap where we are at in 2K18 conversions: a few days ago MauMau78 helped us by revising the method and fixing the last main issue - the jersey glitching in-game that made parts of the jersey look like a huge inflatable and even resulted in a random polygon or two extruding out from the player's uniform at times. Below is where MauMau78 outlined what he did. Any questions you might have feel free to ask them and we can try and clear it up for you. Fire away whether it is on here or through a direct message. I want everybody to be able to take advantage of these discoveries and to have their experience of playing the game enhanced.

- Face texture must come from 2k17...we know that

That's all .....2k17 model will load ingame ...maybe you just need to adjust jersey and accessories size from .RDAT file (I still didn't edit this file)...becouse there is some jersey clipping....also I think using blender this can be solved.

I can be wrong, and I was. He absolutely made improvements. I hadn't seen it in game, I was going by screenshots. Sometimes screenshots don't tell the whole story. Also, don't feel bad about pointing that out, I don't find that to be rude at all. I did say that I didn't think the Jordan was a big improvement. I just commented on his thread letting him know how good it was.

Also note: In that same paragraph, I complimented his Rondo, and stood up for him when someone insulted his English. Clearly I had no ill intentions towards the modder, the NLSC is also a place for feedback, which is what I was giving. He did an amazing job with Jordan, and it's encouraged me to try some of his other works. I am probably going to convert his Rondo to 2K17 to see how it looks.

In regards to the eyeballs, I think it's more the 2K18 eyeball movement as opposed to the placement. I fixed the popping issue by moving the eyes back a little in blender, but it doesn't change the way the players eye movement is. For example, it looks like the eyes in 2K18 look up more, and move about left and right more.... atleast that's the way they work in 2K17 when conversion takes place.

I feel like I've messed with all the eye movement in the hihead.scne file, like I can't find anything else to edit really. It's literally the only issue now...

*In regards to keeping this thread about 2K17 to 2K18, I stated prior that I think the whole process benefits both games. 2K18 is still heavily involved in the conversions to 2K17, we are literally using NBA 2K18 files in this process. It's helping us learn the different language between both games, I think the conversation should stay here, especially because we have the 2K18 to 2K17 conversions about 100% now... the only thing left is eye movement.

Once that is figured out, I can start a thread in the 2K17 section with conversion releases. But again, I think this conversation benefits both processes for the reasons stated above.

I haven't really been following this thread, but so far everything looks good. I'll definitely be converting some of my own cyberfaces when I get the time.

You guys should work more on 2K17 to 2K18, seems like you have the latter pretty much figured out apart from hair models.

That process from 2K18 to 2k17 is actually not good anymore, there is quite a bit more to it. That process will just lead to the glitching players.

I'll make a video when the eyeballs are figured out so you can add it to the first post, I'll also add a thread in the 2K17 tutorials section.

TGsoGood and Trevor,

If I were to send you my 2K18 to 2K17 Jordan, Pierce, and Garnett, would you be willing to take a look at the eyes? It's the last thing to make this process final outside of the 3D hair conversions. Everything else is perfect.

I think part of the problem is that NBA 2K18 eyeballs have a different size or movement? They look almost perfect when they are in the initial edit player view, with slight clipping on the left eye. I also noticed that 2K18 has one less shader for the eyes? Its not a carbuncle, its like an eye shadow shader.

I would be happy for now if we could get that figured out, that way I could release the conversions so people can enjoy them (With proper credit given for the base textures created by modders, if not using the original 2K18 texture).

I really don't want to let this go until we are 100%. I have tried moving the eyeballs back in blender (Which gets rid of a tiny bit of the clipping), I've tried manipulating the offsets in the hihead.scne file, Ive tried making the eyeballs smaller in blender, I've tried moving them either left/right or up/down... I just can't get it. When in game, the players default view almost looks like he is looking up (Like eyes almost rolling into the back of his head). Wondering if there is a language conflict in regards to the eyes, or that we need to just find a way to insert 2K17 eyeballs... which I don't know how to do...

Sorry bro, I will not be able to look at the eye stuff any time this week or next.
The last 2 days I literally stayed up 48 hrs without sleep so that I could keep working on cyber face conversion stuff in my free time .
I still had to go to my real job and tend to my family and kids during this time so it did drain my energy.
Last night I finally got some much needed sleep, but I will try to mess around with other aspects of the game for a week or so.

Also, I converted this Garnett. Had to mess with the face texture a ton to get the color right, both the wrinkles and the faces itself. I cant open him up in Blender for some reason though. This is Mr. Stars Garnett, and no I wouldn't release it without his permission. He did a great job on this face!

Also, I converted this Garnett. Had to mess with the face texture a ton to get the color right, both the wrinkles and the faces itself. I cant open him up in Blender for some reason though. This is Mr. Stars Garnett, and no I wouldn't release it without his permission. He did a great job on this face!

You can of course release, great conversion. Let more people use it. Switching from 18 to 17 is a good idea. But please specify my production, thank you.

In addition, can you help me try to convert a few 17 faces to 18? I tried many times in the video, but all of them are invisible. I don't know where my problem is.

And I'll certainly give you credit. Cant believe how good some of these come out in 2K17.

In regards to 2K18, I havn't tried that conversion process yet. I know that TGsoGood and Trevor have. I think they have been successful as well. I am going to try the process when I get home just to see if I can learn how to do it. If nobody else has helped you at that time, Ill report back with how I did it. I don't play 2K18 because I don't like it, but I'd still like to know the process.

So we got the last part figured out!

Trevor mentioned tilting the head back to match the posture of 2K17, we both tried it in Blender and it works to fix the eyes. We are literally 100% with the exception of 3D hair! I also edited his texture again so it was more accurate color wise. You can see the difference with the screenshot I posted a couple comments ago and these new ones. Also present in the new screens are a 2K17 body shrinkwrap I did so the accessories fit, and a couple other slight edits to the body to make it more accurate.

Here is the Garnett final product (Again, credit to Mr. Star for the base!). If I get the chance tomorrow, Ill release Jordan, Pierce, Westbrook, Garnett and Kemp. (With credit to the original authors if it wasn't a 2K default face, of course)

This is a FINAL 2K18 to 2K17 Kevin Garnett conversion. Thanks for the help TGsoGood and Trevor.

Looking good! What we learned about tilting the head should apply equally to conversions to 2K18 - I am going to look into it. If so, it will make getting the eyes right in 2K18 a heck of a lot easier.

That makes sense. I didn't get a chance to try the 2K17 to 2K18 method yet because I was still messing with 2K17 conversions.

The only thing left is 3D hair. TGsoGood, I think it might work now because of the head position. However, I don't want you to feel like you have to try it (And you have stated you are working on different things). I looked for a hair swapping tutorial, I cant find one, but for some reason I thought one was created. Am I just missing it?
