I hope you are not talking about me trying to get you banned. I would find that pretty insulting in itself.

And you are kidding about the comments, right? You have over 750 on your thread, 15 pages. Going through them, TONS of praise. Your comment about feedback is worrying, because you are getting a ton of it, and it sounds like you need an ego boost a little too often. That's me just being honest. Yes, we make mods also for the feedback, and sometimes need them to improve our work, but dude.... look at your thread again.

Okay.

I could see if you were getting no feedback that you would be a little irritated. But you are getting a ton. Not only that, aren't you in the business of trying to make other peoples gaming experience better? Isn't that the point? You are releasing work, people are praising you for said work on most all occasions, people are getting more enjoyment out of 2K with your mods, what more do you want?

Literally nobody is trying to get you banned. I’m not sure why you’re acting like a martyr. If you’re gonna call people snakes at least have the decency to call them out by name. They should be able to respond and open a discussion. This whole thing has been approached very childishly.

This whole PM thing is actually interesting. On the Chinese forums there is this big thing about credit and work being stolen. Certain modders lock all their mods behind paywalls and PM routes. They only give out their mods to trusted members (in some cases only Chinese members, for e.g the roster editor from 2K17) and to the people who are actually willing to pay. There is also a system on the Ali123 forums where you have to be a certain level on the website to view a thread. It's extremely frustrating because now modding has turned into this competitive thing, V01D himself has shown that.

I've only been modding games for a short time but I can imagine how frustrating it must be for some of the oldies when you start to see amazing work being locked away behind a wall or if it's a hassle to get.

It reminds me of an aspect that has nothing to do with modding, and that's the Operations Sports method of handling users. If you are a new user, you can't even create a new thread until you have made a certain number of comments, and the comments are extremely regulated. You better not insult the game, or you could be banned.

Your post made me think of it. Again, a bit off topic, but I felt the need to bring it up. I gave up on Operation Sports once I discovered that I couldn't create a NBA 2K17 video thread, it kept blocking me telling me that I was a new user, therefore I couldn't create threads.

Oh yeah, the forum is heavily monitored for criticizing the game. Funnily enough they only really start moderatoring it around a 2K's games release or during the hype for the game. It's like they have some sort of bias or something. I got pm'd by one of the moderators for criticizing some of the art in a trailer. Most of the criticism was constructive but he was not happy, telling me I was being overly critical and that it was clear 2K had put in a lot of work and to be happy with it.

But yeah, it's not very welcoming to new members at all.

You’re potentially setting a dangerous precedent though. I’m assuming the thought is to curtail it now while it isn’t prevelant on these forums.

Stop requesting this here. This isn't the thread to request mods.

Personally, I love what TGsoGood does on his YouTube channel and I know if I was featured on his page I would be more than happy. Also impresses my friends more if I was to tell them a YouTuber with over 4K subs made a video on my mod.

Who can be mad at that?

Do any of you guys have thoughts on the below subject which was brought up by TheCed

TheCed wrote:I'm off to PS4. It's crazy how possibilities for user content are lower than PC and there's still even more. With all these modding tools, I still haven't seen any accurate and realistic 2018 draft class. I mean, 2019, 2020 and 2021 is kinda far but I'm not asking for that. There's rosters with fixed attributes, tendencies and signatures. Man it's crazy how there's much more content. I will eventually come back whenever I see some good stuff, I can give up on mods, it's not a big deal. Gameplay and MyLeague stuff is more important.

I read that, and here is my take.

In regards to sheer number of rosters available, he is right. The console community is much larger, so of course that's the case. With that being said...

All draft class type rosters, or any other rosters in the game that have players who are not in the default roster, have to have CAPS for players. So, you can have a draft class, but the faces all look basically the same (the create a player is very limited, it's easy to tell when a player is a CAP).

If he is talking about content available, he is mistaken. Content doesn't just mean rosters. For PC with mods, you can have accurate FIBA mods, NCAA mods when completed, created cyberfaces for CAPS on the teams (Osman, Theis, etc), realistic scoreboards, realistic basketballs, realistic jerseys, you can use the hidden faces that are in the game to fill out teams, you can have cyberfaces improvements to players in the league, you can have accurate courts (dornas, stanchions, even crowd clothing), accurate portraits etc etc. I could go on and on.

So, yes he is right about number of rosters available. However, it's not even close in regards to content available to enhance the experience on a realistic level. Without modding, none of what I mentioned is really possible on consoles. With modding, we can bring the game as close to real life as possible.

If he is okay with 2K's vanilla courts that are missing accuracy, some of the bench players being CAPS, draft classes with all CAPS, players missing portraits or not having updated portraits, the basketball not looking like a real basketball, an inaccurate generic scoreboard, the same faces throughout the year even if a player has a completely different look, etc. That's totally fine. It means he is more interested in the draft classes, and doesn't care about that stuff, or draft classes take priority. So if that's his preference, of course that's cool. We all have different preferences.

I choose PC for the reasons I mentioned above. His comment about "its crazy how there's much more content" is inaccurate. He means there are more draft classes, and more rosters. Content means things that can be used in the game, whether rosters or mods. And Consoles can't have mods, so the content for the PC outside of rosters is leaps and bounds over console.

Making draft classes and rosters was a lot easier a couple of years ago with the RED MC. Now everything is done in memory and is a huge hassle to edit. There isn't really a large group of people willing to dedicate that much time into these kind of things anymore, especially when the community isn't as passionate as it was with some of the last-gen games.

Agreed.

So if he's looking for draft classes and doesn't care about CAPS, and doesn't care about Vanilla 2K, PS4 is for him.

The Ced I too wish there were more rosters and draft class creators for PC but you must consider the following:

PS4 and XBox One have Millions of users, I don't think PC has 1 million players between 2K17 and 2K18 combined (I could be wrong).
You have to consider the user base when discussing the amount of user generated content. More users = more user generated content.

Addressing the draft classes specifically: Any future draft class is going to be a fictional work, there is no way around it. A "realistic" draft class or roster is determined by the individual gamer and what they consider realistic. A few year's ago Jahlil Okafor would be a franchise player in most "realistic" draft classes for NBA 2K15, in reality he was probably never going to be a Franchise centerpiece due to his defense, mobility, and lack of versatility in Today's NBA landscape.

More thoughts:
-It's up to the users to create the content. If the content has not been created on your platform then you can help to create it.
-Due to PC being moddable, we have the ability to get almost every detail correct in our rosters and draft classes. This generally results in rosters and draft classes taking longer to produce (sometimes months) because they may include completely accurate jerseys, courts, player data, cyberfaces, etc.
-If a publicly released draft class does not have cyber faces on PC, people immediately complain or request them. That is not an issue on console because every face in the draft will be a created player using assets from the in-game engine. Cyber faces take hours to get right when replicating real likenesses.

In 2K18 I can just download a roster that already has all the rebrands and created players added. I can create files to help others build the realistic draft classes and roster that I want to play with. I don't have to do it all myself and the results will be very realistic. It's just a matter of people working together.

The biggest thing about PC to me is that I can go back and play updated retro games while I wait for rosters and drafts to get released on the current iteration of NBA games. I can play NBA live 2004 with a completely updated roster. I can go play NBA 2K12 with almost every historical team ever, with accurate team art and cyberfaces. I can play NBA 2K14 with updated "realistic" draft classes for this year and next year with cyberfaces. 2K14 PC I can also play with updated and accurate college and NBA rosters (including some cyberfaces and all current team art).

----
EDIT

I agree with Dee4three's comments
His comment about "its crazy how there's much more content" is inaccurate. He means there are more draft classes, and more rosters. Content means things that can be used in the game, whether rosters or mods. And Consoles can't have mods, so the content for the PC outside of rosters is leaps and bounds over console.
