i was hoping someone can point me the right direction, i am in serious need of a good or decent video tutorial for blender with 2k16-18 arena files. it has been a few yrs for me alomst 4-5 yrs since i touched blender. Started again the last few days but i m really rusty and alot has changed with blender since the 2k12 days.

I have been able so far to add parts to arenas and even recenter them and set them as new iff.files, Below see pics showing what i have done so far

1. 97-98 forum trying to give correct jumbotron and edit base jumbotron for ads or banners, forgot how to edit in blender for that.
Image

2. the mycareer practice gym was able to center court add a jumbotron, scores table and hanging baskets want to it more to moves lights and walls. Please keep in mind i am very rusty and REALLY missing Jaosming right know

This is probably the most tinkering anyone has done with the stadium/ arena files in a while.
I just started tinkering with them a few days ago.

I was working on converting arenas from previous 2K16 and 2K17 but it was a lot of work after reading through all the coding. I've temporarily postponed conversion efforts.

2k17 and 2k16 arenas both have slightly different architecture to their arena.scne files than 2K18.

yeah, i have been trying to re-teach myself how to use a blender since everything I knew is gone. I have made some progress. If it helps I noticed that last yr proam .iff work it is slightly different compared to this yrs and I think that screate/arenas also work from 2k17. So not sure if there is any rhyme or reason but should be a section code that differs to make it work. i noticed that the crowd.data from 2k17 HS gym , 2 college gyms work.

i will keep posting what i do or what i find just trying to make something out of the mycareer practice gym , maybe make look like a high school gym or small college for people to use.

in a while? most tinkering for next gen...

hokupguy I always liked what you did with stadiums of basketball video games... your hardwork inspired me to create stadiums for NBA Live 2004.

I hope you inspire some guys there like me too, as I don't own NBA 2K18

ok as i stated yesterday last pro am arena works in 2k18.

2k17 pro am
Image

2k18 pro am
Image

you can see the difference it them with no brick on the lower part of the court ends. The pro am arenas don't come with any backboard, scores table/ bench or jumbotron. I made one that does and can be used in any mode, see pic play in a quick game. The end walls are not blackout like in other modes like my league. BTW this is a stand alone iff.file now.

Image

still trying to see how or if i can do anything with the to panels on each end.

I believe you will have to edit the arena lightmap.

that what I thought too, but no corresponding files that match it. But there is a .model.file that I think can be it. Do you know how to open that file?

All.model files have to be used together with the.scne file. Import the.scne file into blender and it loads up the corresponding.model file.

That will not help with shadows though.

How did you remove the screen?

i just selected the screens alone in "object mode" and move them out of the arena with the 3D cursor.

In the past we could open dds files with nvidias dds plug in tools because they used dxt5, dxt1,etc.
Many of this years dds files use BC7 compression. You can only properly view those dds files using intel's dds plugins.
Also you must use Photoshop CS6 or Photoshop CC to use intel's dds plugin tool.

I used photoshop cs5 for many years to mod 2K games, this was the first year I had to switch to CS6 so that I could view all the DDS files properly.

That is the only tutorial around as far as I know.
What dds file are you trying to open, maybe I can give it a try.

I usually just open them in photoshop CS6 with no issue.

i did all the steps of setting up the plugins/scripts, and using Photoshop CC. if use open or open as its open as a new create file. not sure if i am doing something wrong. Because i get the option of the intel dds plugin but nothing happens.

Trying to open alot of the harder dds files in the 591.iff trying to find the section numbers of the arena.

The harder ones?

Give a specific example and we can help.

If you look and the size of the file is 0 KB then it's not really there. It will be located in the shared folder in archive 0C

Do you mean s591.iff?

There's 216dds files in there and 157 of them are only going to be able to be viewed if you grab them from the shared folder.
