so MJ23LB just released his excellent Boston Celtic floor/stadium mod link here and i noticed that he had changed the crowd lighting. Now, i do not know exactly how he changed the lighting, but i do hope he lets us know what technique he used.
Anyways, i started fiddling around with the stadium files and found that you can drag the crowd from 2k17 stadium files into 2k18 stadium files and it changes the lighting of the crowd. Don't need to hex edit or blender or anything. Just drag and drop. The files from a 2k17 stadium file:
crowd.CrowdData
crowd_led_lighting.FxTweakables
crowd_lighting.FxTweakables
crowd_reflection.xxxxxxxxxx.model --> this file needs to be renamed from the 2k17 name to the 2k18 name.
PostEffect.FxTweakables
the crowd.CrowdData files is the major change in 2k18 lighting. crowd_led_lighting and crowd_lighting and crowd_reflection don't seem to make many changes in 2k18, but maybe they make very subtle changes. not sure.
the PostEffect file is an interesting file. When you drag crowd.CrowdData from 2k17 to 2k18, then the crowd becomes super bright. Then, if you drag PostEffect from 2k17 to 2k18, then the crowd becomes a little darker and the skin tone becomes better (a little redder). Crowd not as dark as default 2k18, but not as bright as 2k17.
oh, last thing. The crowd files must match --2k17 s002.iff must go into 2k18 s002.iff . I dragged 2k17 s012.iff (jazz stadium) into 2k18 s005.iff (celtic stadium) and the crowd did not match the bleachers. just another thing to remember.
anyways, Looyh had notes about stadium lighting found here: http://www.ali213.info/game/thread-6298417-2-1.html
about arena.scne rgb color and posteffect.fxtweakables. roughly translated with google translate:
Looyh wrote:arena.SCNE file, the "Color" array of vc_spotLight_0_sha in the Light object. Larger values ??brighter, the first three data array should represent R, G, B (This is a guess, because the first change to 0 as a whole into a dark green, so the first value should be the brightness value and red, Just look at the revised results guess guess haha).
It should also be in the arena.SCNE file Light object, which is a variety of locations such as color transparency and other attributes of brightness. You can look for it
The overall brightness of the field is PostEffect.FxTweakables this file
other detailed changes in brightness, location 0x0000013A PostEffect.FxTweakable default is 40 can be changed to 00 ~ f0 bigger and more bright
anyways, so whether you using the 2k17 posteffect or the 2k18 posteffect, you can tweak it a little bit through hex.
hopefully MJ32LB will share how he got his crowd looking so good, but this stuff i found about the stadium files.

notes

2k18 Wizard default

2k18 wizard with 2k17 wizard CrowdData imported

2k18 wizard with 2k17 CrowdData & 2k17 PostEffect imported

2k17 s012.iff CrowdData imported to 2k18 s005.iff - crowd messed up

2k18 jazz default

2k18 Jazz stadium with 2k17 jazz CrowdData imported

2k18 bulls default

2k18 bulls with 2k17 crowdData imported

anyways, i prefer 2k17 crowdata and 2k17 posteffect imported. it seems to look the best. but 2k17 crowd data imported alone is nice as well.
I don't have much time to persue this much, but just posting this information for those who want to make mods with it.
Maybe crowdData from 2k16 or 2k15 can also be moved around. I haven't explored this too much. I have fiddled with the postEffect.FXtweakables file in the past, and lighting can be changed through hex.
if anybody finds any new information, please post it here.
many thanks to ksmiz who helped me track down this information.
EDIT: Moving PostEffect.FXtweakables from 2k17 to 2k18 does change the court color. to achieve a darker crowd like MJ23LB, then you must take 2K16 crowd_lighting.FxTweakables and insert it into 2k18 stadium
if you look at the wizards pictures i posted, then the floor color does change. Floor changing color is not good. thank you MJ23LB for the information.
