Goldenstate77 Reshade (updated)

Postby goldenstate77 on Sun Sep 24, 2017 4:26 pm

UPDATE Oct. 3 2017: Updated with a new setting "NBA 2K18 v3" (with a slightly more pronounced effect).

Note: will look too bright with "Michaelvlutz49's HD Stadiums". I will try to make a version that is more compatible, for those wanting to use both together.

This is a lighting/graphic mod for NBA 2K18. Download here: Goldenstate77 Reshade (updated)

This mod uses Reshade, an injector developed by crosire, which combines post-processing shaders by Lucifer Hawk, Ganossa, CeeJay.dk, Marty McFly, and JPulowski. All credit goes to them for creating this terrific tool.

This download includes all the files you will need to run the mod, along with 2 new 2K18 settings (described below). I also included all of my old settings for 2K15, 2K16, and 2K17, which also work on 2K18. You can switch between the settings to find one suits you. Another reason I included the old settings is that some people, like me, still play the older versions of the game from time to time, and it might be convenient to have them all in once place. This is why I stuck with Reshade 2.0.3, as I haven't converted all of the old settings to the newer versions of Reshade. I don't utilize Reshade's new shaders for the NBA 2K series, so it doesn't make much difference.

A bit about the two new 2K18 settings...

"2K18 v1" and "2K18 v2" are both designed to reduce 2K's yellowish/brownish fog (which was already greatly reduced from prior years), and give a slight "broadcast" look (halogen-like lighting). The main difference between the two versions is V1 uses the "HDR" shader, while V2 does not. If you are struggling with FPS, you might try both (V2 should be a bit less taxing).

Directions: Please follow the instructions carefully, and follow each step. You only need to do it once, then you are good to go.

1) Download the mod.

2) Extract the Reshade 2.0.3 folder to a permanent location (i.e. where you save important game files / applications).

3) Run Mediator.exe (i.e. double click it).

7) Click “Add” on the left, and locate “NBA2K18.exe” (typically c:\program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NBA 2K18).

8) Be sure to check Direct3D 10/11 (defaults to Direct 3D9).

9) Click “Confirm”.

10) Within the black drop down box (on the right, top of second column), select “2K18 v1” preset (or any of the other settings I’ve included).

11) Click “Apply” on upper right.

12) Close Mediator, fire up the game.

Important Please Read

***As you start the game, you should see Reshade load (upper left of screen).

***You can toggle the Reshade effect with the scroll lock key, and take screenshots with the print screen key. Screenshots are saved in your NBA 2K17 folder.

***You may need to adjust the brightness of your screen.

***If the game crashes on startup, try disabling steam overlay, and killing other applications (i.e. afterburner, precision, etc.). I didn’t have any problems.

***To try one of the other settings, open Mediator.exe, select NBA2K18 from the drop down menu on the left. Click Update. Be sure Direct3D 10/11 is checked. Select the present you would like to try from the drop down menu on the right, and then click apply on upper right. You should be able to Alt-Tab in and out of the game to do this.

How To Remove Reshade:

***Removing Reshade is quite easy. Simply navigate to your NBA 2K18 game folder (typically c:\program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\NBA 2K18), and remove the following files: dxgi.dll and ReShade.fx.

I followed the direction to the tee but it does even start up. It's works when I uninstall it. I also did all the troubleshooting that you listed with no success. Any other suggestions I'm lost right now. Thank you in advance brother.

out of curiosity, can you tell me a bit about your system (processor, gpu, ram, etc.)? did you try any of the other settings? v2 should be a bit less taxing.

Bro before i use this there is no problem with my fps ultra settings. Tried this both v1 and v2 no problem with fps also even ultra. The problem is why my fps is half of my normal when its cut scene, presentation or paused even i already tried to get back to default and deleted the files ypu said. I5-6500, gtx 1060, 16gb. 75-100 fps.

Hey man. Sorry you are having issues. The files that the mod puts in your NBA 2K18 folder do not overwrite any other files. So when you delete them, there is really no possible way it can be this mod...

I don't currently. Do you have this issue with other mods on the NLSC server? Curious what the issue could be, because the zip file is pretty small (about 24 MBs), and takes me only 5-6 seconds to download from the NLSC server?

the 2k18 v1 and 2k17 v1 use hdr, which is a bit more taxing (but hardly noticeable difference for me).

it gives me a no resume capability in idm when downloading in nlsc server and that would give me a 10-20 kbps dl speed whereas in mediafire there is no problem as it reaches in mbps.

hey shaqshotdog, i always just go for the highest possible while maintaining desired fps. having said that, the reshade does add smaa, so you should be able to get away with a bit less in game.
