You have to play ProAm, either team ProAm or ProAm Walk on to qualify. Guess what's not been working for over a month now on PC? So, doesn't matter if PC players are officially allowed to take part in the qualification, as they are not able to play these modes right now.

No surprises there. Most of the userbase is on PS4 and X1 after all, and the PC version is susceptible to hacking. That being said, it's a shame that the online experience isn't better on PC, to the point where it could be included in events like this.

Then again, the Pro-Am experience isn't that great this year. With the amount of cheese in the mode, I can see the eLeague being very ugly.

I have a feeling the professional 2Ker's will be really toxic...either way I don't watch people play video games.

Well, some of the amateurs are toxic enough, based on a few of the messages we've received while playing with the NLSC Pro-Am squad. I expect that attitude would carry over to the professional ranks.

I'd like to see some of the evidence that's being alluded to, as I think that would be far more effective in exposing the situation than simply inviting viewers to basically do their own research. However, I would say that it's definitely not implausible, and as such, I wouldn't be shocked and surprised if that's the case.

I suppose that in all fairness, tryouts don't guarantee selection in any situation, and it makes sense that 2K would scout gamers of their own accord in order to ensure the league is as successful as possible. In that respect, the tryouts would just be to fill out the teams with talent as yet unearthed, arguably not unlike the real NBA. It's still not being particularly forthcoming with the fanbase though, and that tends to be 2K's MO; loudly and happily talk up the part people are going to like, while quietly mumbling the bad news, or the terms and conditions that make the announcement somewhat less exciting and appealing.

The logo does suck; it lacks personality. They should've at least put Kobe's silhouette inside it or something.

I watched that video about the league being rigged earler. It is very entertaining.

I do think there will be a real draft but this entire league is a business move and each team is making business decisions. I never thought everyone would have a fair shot, hell PC players had no oppurtunity to even try

I agree with your statement but I don't think big business is concerned with fairness even if they say they are.

Even if it is advertised as fair, it will only be as fair as the League owners and heads care to make it. This is year one, they have to see what works. This year they gave everyone a shot at "feeling" included which has backfired.

While I agree the combine was atleast partially a crapshoot, I am very excited to see what the 2K League will become.

Communication and being candid aren't 2K's strengths. They seem adverse to delivering bad news or information that not everyone is going to like, which is understandable, but I think most people would appreciate the honesty amidst the grumbling.

What I've been hearing is that the Combine was a lot of fun, and felt better than regular 2K Pro-Am. As Arcane and I discussed in the latest podcast, it speaks to the lack of balance in the Archetypes this year.

They also have a habit of holding back bad news, or not being forthcoming with specific information. Even something as simple as the number of wins/winning percentage required to get to the Elite tier in 2K Pro-Am. They can't seem to offer up a figure, and it's happened quite randomly to people (including our squad last year).

it was rigged to a degree. some people dont like to use that word because it seems harsh.

If the league tells you, this is the only thing that matters. and you find out that was not the case with even one draftee. It means they lied. Which meant it was at minimum rigged for that one player.

In addition, it was always going to have the smell of being rigged even if they didnt make that mistake due to the fact that the team gms and the league head was following known elite pro am players. You can't do that if you want to make people believe it's not rigged and everyone that participates in the combine has a fair shake.

Remember, I'm not talking about "well thats just real life and the way big businesses are." That's not the point. the point is, what it rigged or not. The answer is yes it was rigged. Similar to most if not all reality show contest. they are not what you think they are. Because things have to be produced when you have that much money involved. It is not 100% organic which they try to the audience.

Of course marketing is going to play the biggest role, and of course they will lie and say everybody gets a fair chance.

They want the people who have established an audience, a social media brand, a personal brand. It helps the games sales and credentials every time one of the social media darlings posts a video. Those people really help drive sales.

I agree with one of the people who commented on his video that basically said "the sad part is the fact that you thought it wouldn't be rigged". I knew right when I heard about the league/selection process that some shady stuff would be happening. Anthony may have backtracked and apologized for that tweet, but the timeline in which things occurred certainly look rigged, again it's not surprising.

It's no different from the junk that we hear on the radio most of the time. You think these musicians are the most talented? Give me a break. Lil Xan, Post Malone, Lil Uzi, all those kids who are in the billboard top 100, you think those dudes are the best? Please.

It's who is willing to get the message out that the people behind the scenes want them to get out, it's who they believe will be the best to market towards the youth and young adults. It's the people that have the brand that they want (which is really, really sad).

The best 2K players probably didn't make the cut because they didn't have the same following.

and if that ends up being true. then the league wont survive. This aint fortnite. This aint call of duty. This aint halo. This aint any of those other esport games that are more game than sport. Sports games are usually people who play or love sports or both. if thats your audience. They like professional sports because they get to watch the best in the world play each other. not the most marketable. The nba figures away to market guys that are not super marketable and after that they let their play do the talking. tim duncan would never make the 2k league if it was based on marketability. But what would the nba be without Timmy D? It's a ridiculous idea for this TYPE of game.

It's called bullshit.

All the youtubers play on console, they are the players that reach the most people. It's obvious that's the reason.

Bullshit to use the platform that they didn't allow competition from. But of course, the game plays the best on the PC.

WTF is he talking about. 'Telling a story'; it's a video game jesus christ. Why does everything have to be this fantasy dramatic fairy tale? Just unveil the logo. Did you see the sketches of some of the concept logos? Sign me up I'm better than a professional logo designer/s. Terrible logo. Don't really understand it at all. If they wanted to copy the "pill" shape, why did they chamfer the corners? It totally depletes the connection (if there was any) to the original NBA logo.

I'll be honest I don't really respect esports much. I like watching the CSGO highlights every now and then because that's the league I suppose I have the most understand of the mechanics for.

Anyways this was not what I expected. And I don't know how anyone could watch this. My gut tells me this game isn't nearly balanced/tactical/strategic enough to allow for combination of X's and O's and pure impressive skill that makes other esports, and real sports entertaining.

Seriously, there's no lack of real NBA content. Why would/are you going to watch this over real NBA content? (honest question, curious)

Day 1 in the books of the Tip-Off Tournament. 5 out of the 6 games were close and were entertaining to watch. The 6th was just a straight blowout with Hood going OFF and only missing 2 shots the entire game.

They uploaded a quick highlight video

Day 2 starts this afternoon/7-ish hours from now.

There have been some pretty good games in the 2K league so far. I haven't been able to watch them all but catching two a day so far + a few highlight videos.

It has been a LOT of games in a short amount of time. I've been trying to catch the ends of games if they're close or within a run (which I guess is ~20 point leads).

They have done a great job with the presentation IMO. Mixing the game with the commentators and the players themselves. Having covered the RTTF and AST for 2KTV so extensively I know how tough this can be, and they are killing it.

Really bummed the CLTX (eh, that still feels weird) got dropped out due to point differential for the bracket. But Dimez willed the Mavs back in their head to head, so I can't feel too bad about it....next time.

Oh and I love that they decided to do the broadcast camera view instead of the 2K cam for games.

A lot of people on Reddit and, at least initially, in the Twitch chat were turned off by it, but Broadcast is definitely the way to go. I like that they're using one of the player lock cameras for replays too.

I'm guessing Mavs or 76ers to win it all today. With either Dimez taking over or the 6ers continuing with their all-sharp lineup

Expected or not? Is it problem in the game itself? The way it is presented? Would you say 2k league has been a mistake?

I'm a little surprised that it's been that drastic of a drop so soon, but it's still too early to write it off completely.

With the backlash to NBA 2K18, it probably didn't end up being the ideal game to launch the league with. Their reputation has never been worse with the hardcore fanbase, and the game has a lot of problems this year. I'd also say the restrictions on the animations the players are allowed to choose and the sliders/tweaked difficulty they're playing with (as I understand it) have resulted in a product that's left a lot of people saying "Are these really the best NBA 2K games in the world?". That isn't necessarily fair given the circumstances, but that's the impression that they're given.

Beyond that, there's probably been a miscalculation in terms of the league's popularity, based on how well the game sells. On top of the disappointment and backlash this year, a lot of people are probably more interested in playing the game than watching others play it; some genres are more popular to stream than others, after all. Alternatively, people may be inclined to support an independent streamer, viewing them as "one of us", but be turned off by the idea of an official league and 2K endorsed stream.

And then of course, there are probably people who recognise that the NBA 2K League doesn't benefit the majority of the fanbase, and feel that more attention has gone into it than creating a desirable experience for the average user. Cynically, one might suggest that the VC gouging is helping to fund something that doesn't benefit us, and hasn't proven to be entertaining enough to retain its audience, at least so far.

As I said, I think it's too early to write it off completely, but at this rate it's shaping up to be a flop. Not everything is a success right away, and needs to be given a chance to grow and learn from its mistakes. It's not encouraging given the hype and general success of the brand though, and has to be viewed as a disappointment, unless these struggles were anticipated.

They should figure out a way to incorporate youtube also. Maybe not for Live games since they have the twitch deal but may the could post the games on youtube a day or 2 later so people can watch them any time.
My issue is the league should have been building a twitch audience way before the draft.

I have been watching guys stream 2K League on youtube. I'm pretty sure guys are streaming the league games to other video and streaming sites also.
