Podcast QotW: Game of the Year 2012

Postby Andrew on Thu Dec 20, 2012 8:51 am

The Question of the Week in the latest episode of the NLSC Podcast asks for your pick for the Game of the Year, 2012 (a shortlist of your runners up is also welcome). If you don't really have one or haven't picked up any new games in 2012, feel free to post an older game that you've been playing this year or an all-time favourite.

Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed III top the year for me... though the endings for both games suck.

The Walking Dead for sure. Haven't gotten around to a few that could be up there such as AC3 though.

I'd go with The Walking Dead too, but I haven't got a chance to play my copies of Far Cry 3, Dishonored or Max Payne 3 yet.

I'd have to go with Dishonored. I'm done ep. 4 of Walking Dead, and truly enjoy the story thus far, however I wouldn't say the games story telling mechanics are any different than Mass Effects or similar games with choices, and maybe that's why I'm a little less impressed with the game than others. Wouldn't be surprised or dissapointed if it did win GoTY though.

Dishonored just had such an environment to it. I loved the world, the characters, the freedom, and the gameplay was just way too reminiscent of Bioshock, maybe my favourite game of all time.

Portal 2. 'nuff said.

Currently going through Episode 3 of the Walking Dead. Never was really into zombies, but the mixture of adventure, choices, and "everything goes to hell no matter what you do because that's life in a zombie apocalypse" got me hooked.

Gave my opinion on some other games in Podcast #11, so listen to it.
I'll be joining Visual Concepts/2K Sports soon, so come by and wish me luck!
