Incredible! Please tell me you'll be able to do rookies from 2017-2018? I would greatly appreciate it...

Dee4Three wrote:Yeah that makes sense. Curious, How much are you playing NBA 2K17 anyway? I know that most have moved onto 2K18, but I've stuck around with 2K17 even though I own 2K18.

If you havn't used my rosters yet, you may want to give them a try so you can see what they have and do not, just a suggestion. I converted Brent Barry, Gerald Wallace and Rasho Nesterovic, Nate Thurmond, Jamal Mashburn and Andrew Bynum last night. The problem with Wallace is: I need to be able to give him black, short hair, not even 3D, just hair to cover the mess that was under his real hair. In the 01-02 season, he didn't have dreads or tattoos, he just had short black hair. With Nesterovic, I really need his 3D hair. If not, I'll stick with the Nesteroivic (Absolutely passable) that I already have for the 04-05 Spurs on my roster.

I was on console still when 2K17 was released, and since I wasn't able to mod at that point, I was kind of pissed off that there were no new classic teams or players added so I didn't play it during its life cycle. But now with the modding capabilities that is a non-issue. I now play both games - there are aspects of both 2K17 and 2K18 that I like when it comes to playing.

Since I was not modding 2K17 until recently, I have not used any of your rosters yet. But I will download them today and take a look.

I can also work on those textures that you named.

Well, welcome to the PC modding scene. It's a lot of fun, I converted back in 2013 and havn't looked back.

In regards to my rosters, you basically can download all three and place all the contents into one modded folder, but make sure it's separate from your regular modded folder, because the classic teams one files overwrite a lot of current teams. I'm still in the process of adding more teams as well.

I'll get you those textures shortly, thanks!

Here is the problem with that:

3D hair has not been figured out. Meaning, yes we could convert a short haired Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum, etc. But not players who had longer hair. I wouldn't start converting those until we actually figure out the 3D hair aspect. I've tried so many different methods and I cant get it to work, TGsoGood tried, Trevor tried, we just havnt had any luck.

These are amazing & thanks for still caring about 2k17 your work is always great, any possible way you can upload/add the short haired Rasheed Wallace with your next pack, the default has the fro just not as good as the one seen in your videos?

I will release him as part of my updates to my 3 rosters. However, I may do a separate release for you when I get the chance, I have to fix something first. He doesn't look the same in broadcast view as close-up, I know how to fix it I just havnt gotten around to it.

And no problem, I prefer 2K17 over 2K18. Glad people still play 2K17.

Re: 2K18 to 2K17 Cyberface Conversions - Pack 1 RELEASED

Postby trevorjpt33 on Tue Jun 19, 2018 3:29 pm

I was trying something for a 2K18 conversion and an idea popped into my head. I was able to get 2K18 3D hair to appear in 2K17. First time I have been able to do that. Usually it either crashes or completely ignores any related files and nothing changes.

You can conceal the hair in any of the hihead.SCNE hihead_1.SCNE, and so on... by copying in "prim" section from hair and changing the binary to the hair .model.

The problem is that only the hair and accessories will appear at a certain distance in the edit player screen, while at a different distance only the rest of the body will appear.

This makes sense with how LOD's work but I was shocked that I could get away with changing the hihead files that much - like going from 10 or so vertex groups to one, with a different binary. Imports into Blender, too.

It makes me wonder if there is some way to have the hair show up with the rest of the player by naming it a different way - renaming it to conceal it as some other file that will show up with the original hihead.SCNE. Things like hair_custom.SCNE, facemask_png.iff (the hihead.SCNE file in that archive) or some other 3d accessory.

Great find, Trevor! I have to get around to releasing a cyberface pack 2, btw.

I think it's amazing that we have gotten this far with conversions (mostly you). I didn't think an entire conversion would have been possible between both games.

Yes, my apologies.

I have no excuse, really. I have just been prioritizing a few other things ahead of this recently. I will release shortly, thanks for your patience.

btw, same with my roster update, I need to get that out ASAP (People are asking for it on youtube). So I will try and make that more of a priority.

Hey Dee, do you know if the cyber faces people have created for 2k18 like the 2018 Draftees, Ayton Bagley etc., would work if applied to 2k17? Would it have to go through a similar process here or could it just be dropped here?

The conversions would have to go through the same process. And remember, at the moment we cannot convert 3D hair.

Also to JLee33, I'll be getting the 2nd mod pack out over the next couple days, worked on some of them last night.

I still can't believe we can do full conversions from 2K18 to 2K17.... even the body comes over properly.

Mind blown.

I've just always had it, and nobody has complained. It's bug free, mostly ad free... just easy to use I guess.
