Are the mods worth it?

Postby meh on Sat Dec 24, 2016 2:08 am

How much better do they actually make the game look this year?

I only ask as im getting sick of downloading files that redirect me to ad sites and eventually one of those ads is a 'your pc is infected' crap that just hangs around like a bad smell.
I know the modders want money for their time, thats fair enough, thats the world we live in. But cant there be some sort of collaboration/subscription to do this, rather than the hassle of ads taking over my screen all the time

Yes I use adblock, but these ADFly sites etc have a hissy fit if you have ad block on.

So great work modders, but is your work that much better than the default graphics that i will be missing out?

Cheers,
meh

Yes, it is. Yes, the mods are worth it. I personally use all the court mods (the original courts is really terrible for me). Yes i think some modders use AdFly and something like that (understandable, of course), but there's some who's not, and their mod is really really good.

I reccomend taking a look at iamSamke 'A Complete Guide to an Improved NBA 2K17' for reference. He list all the mods that are available right now and categorize them (like courts, draft class, cyberfaces, etc)
viewtopic.php?f=225&t=102294

For me personally, i use Lagoa's courts viewtopic.php?f=225&t=102321 (he makes a really great courts), maumau78 SFX mod viewtopic.php?f=225&t=102610 (changing the sfx of the ball hitting the rim, the swish sound, etc), and exrxixxx custom NBA TV scoreboards viewtopic.php?f=225&t=102620

Those three are my favorite mods, and they don't use AdFly for their mod. You can download them at NLSC download databases or at mediafire.

I think i can't imagine playing the game without the use of mods now

I don't really use jersey and cyberfaces mods cause i don't really see the point, but some people want more detail in jersey, and the cyberfaces is usually for retro player and i don't really play with retro team (i'm just a MyCareer guy).

Oh, and i see you ask about installing mods. I'm sorry i haven't mentioned it before, i thought you already knew. First, you have to download NBA 2K17 external file plugin, because 2K decided to archive the file to make it more organized this year (and last year as well). You can find the file in here: viewtopic.php?f=225&t=102382

Copy all the files to your NBA 2K17 folder, and place your mods that you downloaded in the modded folder.
Enjoy the mods!

Verify your files through Steam.

No. He's talking about the Modded folder. You just have to restart the game.
