Is cheating online possible on the consoles?

Thu Dec 08, 2016 7:39 am

I think I've finally had my fill of the cheating on MyPark. We have a great 3 man squad, play very solid D, have great ball movement and shooting and still manage to lose half the games we play, to some 7 ft freaks shooting half court fadeaway 3's. I am a maxed out 95 playmaker and can barely hit an open 15 footer while the people I guard can nail 3's from half court with me 2 inches from their face.

2K clearly knows about this (been going on since 2k15) and is not doing anything about it. I've decided to give in and just bought an XBOX One S for 2K18.

While I can still return this thing, can someone confirm that it is NOT POSSIBLE to cheat on the consoles? I am giving up on 20 years of PC bball gaming only because of the insane cheating happening online.

Not possible as far as I'm aware. We encountered one team in 2K Pro-Am that was a bit suspicious, but it's highly likely they simply did a lot of grinding (and bought some VC) in the first couple of weeks. Cheesy builds are still doable though; Player Archetypes need some work for NBA 2K18.

Andrew, you current play on a console? I thought you were one of the last remaining holdouts like me. Console is an inferior product - the graphics aren't as good and the resolution isn't as high but it's worth the tradeoff for a fair game. Also, I don't mind sports games on a console/tv so much. First person shooters, sims, RPGs, and strategy games absolutely must be played on a PC/mouse combi though.

I've been playing games on PC and console ever since I started playing video games. I have NBA 2K17 on PC and PS4, though I've mostly been playing the PS4 version (specifically MyCAREER and 2K Pro-Am). I'll probably use the PC version for my MyLEAGUE game, when I eventually get around to doing that.

I also wouldn't say that console games are inferior products; many times the difference is negligible, if indeed there is one. I really haven't noticed a difference with NBA 2K17, certainly not the point of it being a noticeable distraction at any rate/ There are games I prefer to play on PC of course, but when it comes to NBA 2K online, I definitely prefer PS4.
