Forthcoming Gameplay Updates (via Beluba)

Postby Andrew on Fri Oct 14, 2016 9:38 am

Mike Wang (aka Beluba) has provided some insight into forthcoming gameplay updates over on his Twitter:

Fair Warning: Shot timing will become more difficult soon. It's too easy right now cause I had to compensate for the shot meter glitch.

When I undo my band-aid fix, you will see a noticeable drop in the frequency of green releases, so enjoy them while they last.

Sharpshooters will be just fine. But nobody should be averaging 80+% from 3PT range.

Pass speeds, moving screens and defense are being looked at as well. And yes, we know about the Relentless Finisher issue. Will fix asap.

It's not going to be as drastic as some of you think. I'm just prepping you all that the timing band-aid is going away after XB gets 1.04

Just addressing those who are saying that shooting is too easy and FG% are too high. I'm aware of it.

On one hand, I do agree that it shouldn't be too easy to shoot, but I also hope that the success of near-perfect releases is tweaked. Right now, it feels like very early and very late releases are actually more successful than slightly early and slightly late releases.

I'm not a fan of some of this. I don't think the shooting is broken in the least, and I also think many people are saying it's difficult as it is to shoot right now. We even had a whole thread on it.

I shoot fine, but he makes it sound like everybody is shooting a crazy high percentage, that is not the case at all.

I have my concerns about the shooting too, but we'll see how it plays out. Judging by some of the responses he's getting, a lot of other gamers are somewhat concerned as well, though they could probably stand to be a little politer in their objections.

Seriously, I am struggling hitting wide open mid-range shots at 76 rating. On the other hand, yesterday my bro and I played 2 v 2 in MyPark and got crushed 21-0 by 2 players who did not miss a single shot, all long range jumpers. Big dude was lightning fast. His stats showed 41 outside shooting, as most big men are. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???

I got so mad and mouthed off so many expletives my brother showed me how to do cheat engine. I've never cheated online ever and my bro only did it for fun 3 years ago but if 2K isn't going to do anything about this hacking, so be it. It's the only way to level the playing field.

So my bro came back with a 7'3" monster thoroughbred and we destroyed the competition. We honestly did not have any fun at all with it, but we're sick of losing games only because some of these hackers are unguardable. Roughly 35% of mypark is hacking at this point.

I'm struggling big time shooting the ball. I find myself using the button, more often than not. It's not easy at all to me. I use the right stick, and pull down on jumpshots like instructed, but still shoot air balls and shots that brick off the backboard. Layups always seem to pop out at the last second, and getting a green meter doesn't guarantee the shot is going in. So now they are going to make it harder? I don't get it.

You've missed shots with a Green release? They're supposed to be 100% this year, unless they're blocked I guess.

Like I said, no guarantees. I'm sure there are others who can vouch for this.

I'm just going by what Beluba said during the preview season. I've yet to miss a Green release myself.

i can confirm it in my career the only game mode i play.i have had green releases from the 3 point line and missed and had the ball bumping the rim and going out of bounce witch seem to be very common now

If it isn't broken (The shooting) why fix it or tweak it.. I'm sorry but, I like the way the shooting is in the game currently. And I am a competitive player.

Too big shooting percentages, IMO. Swaggy P in my league shooting 53% from three. He should shoot 38-ish.

Strange, guess I've been lucky then. Beluba did make a point of saying that Green releases would always go in, when he posted a developer blog during the preview season, so like I said, strange.

Same here. I find that earlier and later releases seem to fare better than just missing out on a perfect release, which should be the other way around.

I've once missed green release in 2K15 and those were supposed to be 100% too, right?

I was the under impression they were going to be in the next big patch, but it's possible they'll be pushed through by themselves as a more subtle update. No clarification either way at this point.

Supposedly, yeah. They weren't in NBA 2K16, though I can't recall ever missing a Green release in that game either.
