What happens to Justice and Denver if i request a trade?

Thu Sep 29, 2016 1:52 am

I'm just really curious since in this story, we're supposed to be 'the dynamic duo' with Justice. If we're traded, is Justice gonna be traded too? Or the 'story' part will end? I haven't really attempted it cause i'm afraid i'm gonna get traded if i press that Request Trade option. I happen to like the team i play on now (The Suns), at PG, me and Dragan Bender is rocking.

I first heard that, if you leave the team without Justice, he gets killed off in the story via car crash, but I've also heard he just stays on the team you left, so idk, the latter might be what happens, but 2k's storylines so far have seemed to have a fetish with car crash fatalities

Pretty sure the car crash stuff was just a dark joke someone came up with.

Cool, good to get an answer on that. Guess it's one way out of the Orange Juice storyline if you don't care for the nickname. Not much you can do about Pres, though.

Looks like you can request to be traded along with Justice. Too bad if he doesn't want out.

The whole storyline for me took a weird turn when I looked at their ages and saw Denver was 24 while Justice is 22 and talking about his last chance and shit.

Also Denver is averaging 9 steals per 36 minutes in my career, he had 7 steals in five minutes in one game lol

A lot of Denver's ratings end up being 90-99 very quickly. In many ways, he's the true star of this year's MyCAREER.

Meanwhile, me with my 6 turnovers per game and Bricklayer badge is the face of the franchise. You should hear the commentators bow down before me.

I don't play mycareer... but I am going to use a strange example of why this frustrates me...

I believe that the accuracy of evaluating the users performance is the most important thing a mode can have. When I say evaluating, I mean the way the "story" plays out and relates to the actual performance. Here is my strange example: There was a game for the Sega CD called Sewer Shark, no... it wasn't the best game ever, however I did enjoy it. They had video cutscenes between stages, and depending on how you performed on a given stage, it either wouldn't advance you, or it would give you a video giving you an actual portrayal of your performance (If you didn't do well, a dude would come on screen and tell you that you kinda sucked, if you did average, he would come on screen and give you an average response, if you did well, you would get praised). Depending on how you did throughout, the story would change. The reason I bring this up is: The concept of having a story that matches the performance has been around since the early 1990s, and even games back than got it right. If a guy is performing below average in this mode in NBA 2K17, the story/headlines etc should absolutely reflect that.

I played through Sewer Shark MANY times just to see if I could get praised throughout, so I could see all the different responses to my performance.

Part of the reason I don't play this mode is because it seems like a mode where no matter what... you can't REALLY fail story wise. Why would I want to play a mode like that? The fun part would be playing... and maybe not doing so well and getting called out for it by the media, coaches, etc, and trying to turn it around so the headlines turn around. THAT is what it should be all about.

Hopefully people can appreciate the Sewer Shark example and what I mean.

Playing through The Prelude, there were a couple of things like that. The :24 segment wondered if it was time to "impeach The President of Basketball", and there were comments from the various media personalities suggesting that I was going to be a bust in the NBA. I've been playing better once I've made the NBA though (mainly because I bought that VC on Day 1 for the upgrade), and it hasn't really come up since, aside from a couple of snarky comments on the in-game social media early on when I wasn't getting a lot of playing time, and a few miscues meant paltry numbers.

I think it's depends of what you are choosing during cutscenes and storyline. Because in my MC I'm fully suppporting Justice and totally ignoring Denver. Now Justice is 89 ovl, Denver is 67 and he was waved from the team and signed later for a 10-days contract (he's on the 2nd now).

Whoops, I actually meant a lot of Young's ratings end up being 90-99 in short order. Denver remains a fringe player in the rotation (and gets cut as part of the story, as you noted), but Young levels up very quickly.
