I have maxed out playmaking ability (no lob badge) but twice in a mycareer game, when I had a two on one fast break, I threw pathetic lob passes that ended at the 3 pt line to no one in particular. WTF??? This was never a problem in 2k16. The intended player may not catch it, but it wasn't 5 miles away from him to who knows who?

I've had a couple go to the wrong player before. One of them went backwards towards the 3 point line. Another cross court to nobody that I recovered and got called for a travel. I checked my controller settings and noticed they reset again. I hold two of the top single game turnover records for the Bucks. That seems to be an indicator that the settings reset. If it happens a third time, I'll know for sure.

HAHA, most I've gotten was 7 turnovers with 5 min quarters.

I've seen that a couple of times. There also seems to be problems with players actually finishing the lob, instead just catching the ball and landing again, despite being in perfect position to throw it down or finish with the layup, and having the ratings to do so.

Don't get me wrong, that should happen sometimes as lobs shouldn't be guaranteed baskets, and sometimes you are in a bad position or sprint has been depleted. But it seems to be happening at times when there should at least be an attempt.

Yep, it seems like the animation is not representative of the pass. If the receiver comes down with the ball, it should be because the pass was off, either in direction or timing. What you describe has happened to me several times also - a perfect pass, perfect catch, no attempt to even finish.

I've heard that you've now got to press the Shoot button or Pro Stick to finish the lob (obviously, CPU teammates will do so more often, having much faster reaction than the human on the sticks). I do feel like the finish should be somewhat automatic - the attempt at least, not the success of the shot - but if that's the case, something to keep in mind.

Really? As the recipient or the passer?

If you're the passer, I assume your duties are done once you do the lob. As the receiver, that would make a little sense and would be a lot more challenging, involving, and more rewarding. I've never been on the receiving end of a lob before.

As the recipient. You've got to use the shooting controls to finish with the dunk or layup after receiving the lob; at least, that's what I've been told.

I've also noticed some bizarre fastbreak AI. A lot of the times, the players seem to run to their default spots instead of straight down the lane. 1 pt game with 2 min left. My cpu teammate had a clear lane ahead of me. All he had to do was run straight down as I passed him the ball and he'd have a dunk. His defender was to his right. Guess what? He veers hard right straight into the defender as I pass the ball, causing a turnover. A Nelson Muntz play. These aren't isolated incidents. I know 2k devs talked about how proud they are about their new fastbreak AI but it seems even dumber than last year.

I've had some fastbreaks break down due to things like that as well. Funnily enough, when running the fast break drill in MyCAREER, the CPU will often take a bad shot rather than passing as it should, exemplifying some of the issues with the fastbreak AI, and messing up the drill in the process.
