Warning: Rant coming. Skip to last sentence if you'd like.
I have not purchased 2K in a few years do to timing/ money priorities, lack of modding, and dissatisfaction with online only modes/ files.
I will likely purchase this game, but this is probably my last 2K if I do buy. I only play on PC and it seems games are passing me by with each year that I get older.
With a full time job, wife, a kid, and various real world responsibilities I don't find this "hype" season amusing at all.
I've stated in other threads that one of the main reasons I bout new pc machinery was to enjoy 2K. I can use the PC for other stuff but gaming was the main point for spending
over $900 on new PC hardware. Then when I played 2k16 on my nephews PS4 a few times, I knew I was not purchasing that game on PC. I just went back to 2k14 and with my
new hardware it runs amazingly, everything on max plus I could enjoy all my mods. Honestly I think I'd rather mod than play the game sometimes. Plus I did not want to be forced
to deal with waiting for patches or have patches forced upon me once I felt everything was perfect. I chose to just enjoy a game that was already complete rather than waiting 6
months through multiple patches for the game to finally be complete.
I just want to know what the hell is in the game this year, so that I may make an informed decision to purchase prior to the games release.
I do a lot of reading and work in global shipping industry. I see the trends with consumers and retail globally. There is a lot of economic disarray in the world lately.
I can see why 2K is really pushing pre-orders. NBA Live also made a smart move in my opinion to push back release date rather than get crushed by 2K. They can now release
and market on their own terms now and try to maximize sales. I get it, it's business first.
But a lot of people are going to end up spending $200 US or more on this game, over the span of this game's life cycle. I'm reffering to pre-ordering Kobe editions and buying VC over the
year to get upgrades, buy MyTeam cards, and other various stuff. I know the game will be a good game, but then again 2K14 on PC + mods is also a good game. I just need to know
this is a game that I will play more than 2K14 PC, that is what gets my pre-order. Otherwise I will wait for a sale because chances are I will still play this new game less than a game released 3 years
ago.
Summing it all up: Pre-release Hype level is 10 out 100 for me (so far anyway).
I was only excited for League expansion news.
