How to make NBA 2K17 optimized for Isiah Thomas?

Wed May 24, 2017 5:18 am

Hey everyone,

I am just trying to compile a list of things to try tonight when I start a Boston Celtics franchise mode. I'm pretty good at playing with Superstars the actual way they play in real life, like actually how they play... however I struggle with Isiah Thomas. I tweaked his attributes but still no luck, he can't create space or get a decent contested lay-up high off of the backboard. Floaters are good and open jump shots, even his mid-range pop shot from 10-14 feet out is difficult to get off without being blocked.

Is there something I am missing? maybe a slider change that you guys would recommend?

Up his ball handling a tad, as well as his speed with ball. That should help. Also, use my sliders Dee4Three Sliders if you are not using them already. The defense on gather/release is more forgiving, allowing you to actually make somewhat contested shots like players do in real life.

Make sure to create space with step backs (Take step back jumpers), and also use counter moves. Also, utilize the pick n roll with him like they do in real life.

Also, you could change his shot base so he jumps higher on his shot. The game doesn't make him jump high enough. You could explore that option.

I was actually thinking of looking for a new shot base but something that doesn't make his shot look completely false. I'll look into that tonight!

Yeah keep his shooting form, just change the base. Try Drexlers base and see how that looks, Thomas does the whole "Feet up" thing when he shoots like Drexlers base. Just experiment, it could make a huge difference.

I'll give your sliders a shot tonight also bro! I haven't used your sliders yet.

Yeah, the only way I get him open was by pick and rolls, floppys and set backs in the mid range but again those are contested like crazy and misses. I will try out the sliders tonight and hopefully let this lil' fella to hit contested shots!

No problem, good luck.

Report back on your findings if you could, I'm curious.

So, I did not get a chance to try out with sliders as I only had enough energy play 2k for half hour or so after work.

I did two things, I changed the shot base. The one I picked was in the # 70's. I'll add the exact number tonight, tried to make it still look as realistic as possible.

I was actually able to get off contested fadeaways with Isiah and step back jumpers had more of an early arc making them a little less blockable. However, in the paint same issue and that 10-14 foot pull up same issue.

Next I will try out your sliders tonight! Fingers crossed!

Hey man, try release V. Carter and base 24 for Thomas. There are some great spreadsheets out there with updated signature shots for players
