Never played PC games, unsure where to start

Mon Apr 24, 2017 9:47 pm

What equipment do I need to connect my laptop to my TV (and to be able to use an Xbox One controller), and what software do I need to apply mods to the game? Any advice you might give to someone who has absolutely no idea what they're doing, as far as PC gaming, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

As far as I know, you'd need a HDMI connection between your TV and your laptop. The Xbox One controller should be connected to your laptop via a USB port. For applying mods, you need the external file plugin, find around these forums. It's not a software, it's just a folder you place inside your game directory. Inside this folder you place various mods found on our release section.

If your Laptop doesn't have an HDMI port, you could use a VGA cable, or you could buy a converter to make HDMI work. What are the specs of your laptop?

In regards to the mods. Always look at the tutorials sections of the game threads in order to know how to use resources, installing mods is pretty easy.

This is the laptop I have. It has a DisplayPort and VGA capability, but no HDMI as far as I can tell. I honestly have no idea what DisplayPort is.

Man, I'm sorry to burst you bubble, but I don't think you can play NBA 2K17 on those specs.

It's definitely not going to be enough for NBA 2K17, or all that suitable for gaming in general, unfortunately.

Wait for that arcade NBA game that is a combination between street and nba jam. I'd definitely play that on your stuff

Not only that, I can guarantee you that you could run NBA 2K12, 2K13, and 2K14. And those games are still awesome.

I had worse specs than you on my laptop and I ran NBA 2K14 on medium and it was still fun.

True, older games should be feasible.
