Player Contracts: Player in Red with Asterisk

I saw this on my roster and was wondering what it means. B.Hammonds isn't listed on my roster but I see this when I look at the player contracts page. Does anybody know what it means?

That player is dead money. Guessing you waived him.

Edit: On second thought, I'm not so sure. Aren't dead money guys greyed out instead?
