Injury bug?

Postby Uncle Drew on Thu Oct 06, 2016 7:45 pm

The last three games I've played, in each game a player goes down with a sprained ankle. Is this a bug? and is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Sounds more like coincidence/bad luck to me. Which mode?

There is however a lot of people having this issue in myleague/GM that I've seen from youtube and forums.

One person had 8 players injured, 6 with ankle sprains.

Have the injury sliders in MyLEAGUE had any effect?

I do remember Leftos saying a couple of years ago they actually tuned the default slider in MyLEAGUE (and I believe the ratio in MyGM as well) to about half the number of real life injuries, as they felt if the game reflected the actual number of injuries suffered in real life, most gamers would find it too annoying (and ironically, unrealistic). Perhaps the default setting now reflects a higher number?

I'm not sure if this will confuse us more or help, but when I was playing last night, LeBron went down with a sprained ankle. This was during MyLEAGUE. I started my second season controlling the Knicks. During the first game, Westbrook went down with a broken ankle. Second game, LeBron went down. Third game, Porzingis went down (forgot what his injury was since I saved mid game). I was actually kind of excited when I saw the Westbrook injury because that was probably the first time I've ever seen a player get injured in game and not get subbed back in all of my years playing 2K.

Not sure what to make of all of this, but maybe others have input to share as well.

Personally I haven't started a myleague yet I usually wait for the opening night rosters but the franchise story's on YouTube as I said all seem to have ankle injuries in higher numbers probably than say injuries over all. Maybe 70-80% were ankle related.

Perhaps the tendency does need to be tweaked. Might need to collect more data and compare across our experiences. I haven't seen too many injuries playing MyCAREER so far, though Bledsoe did go down in a game I played against the Suns yesterday.

Have the same and have reported it to Leftos. My Starting 5 gets injured within 2 games of the season every time.

Sounds like the tendency is too severe, then. Obviously there's the slider for MyLEAGUE, so anyone playing that mode can try tweaking it, but since you can't do that for MyGM, sounds like it needs to be patched.

This is a bug. I don't know why the Devs, haven't looked into this. Played Magic vs Heat and DJ Augustine went down with a ankle, 3 mins into the game, and didn't come back...

I am in the middle of a 3rd season letting it play CPU v CPU all Bulls games.

There hasn't been a game, except for the first game of each season, that at least one player isn't out with some kind of ankle injury.

Mid 3rd season my entire starting lineup was out with sprained ankles. I finally turned injury frequency down from 50 to 40.

How did that work? Maybe I'll try that....

The very next game the Bulls star center, with all 99's for body part health, injured his toe (sprained toe). He's out for two weeks.

He has missed at least a fifth of all three seasons with ankle, and now toe, injuries.

^^ Too bad. This needs to be fixed before I start My League. I was waiting on the final rosters before the season starts anyway, but if injuries aren't fixed, every NBA team will look like a "Mash Unit" .

MyLEAGUE at least might have a workaround with the injury sliders. Other modes will need to rely on a patch.

I thought turning the injury sliders down to 45 for user and cpu injury frequency mostly solved the problem. But 23 games into a 29 game season, my entire starting lineup is out for at least the regular season with injuries.

The Center has a torn right calf muscle. He's 99 on all body part attributes. He's out 4-6 weeks.

My starting forward is out for the season with a torn achilles.

Starting PG out 4-6 weeks with a broken right ankle.

Starting SF and SG out 6-8 weeks with ankle sprains.

The backup Center is out 4-6 weeks with knee tendinitis.

The following players not on my team are out for the season:

Steph Curry Leg fracture. He missed the whole season last season with a spinal chord injury. He was out for the playoffs the year before that with a broken leg.

K Leonard has missed at least a month every year with some kind of leg injury. This year it's 4-6 weeks out with a broken kneecap.

^^ I'm very surprised, nobody (developers) has said anything at 2K or addressed this with a patch. It's a My League killer for me. Every team always has a star player go down with injuries, that last most of the season.

The good news is all my starters were healthy when the playoffs began.

The bad news is by the conference finals the starting SG is out with a broken leg, the starting center is out for 3-5 weeks with a knee injury and a dislocated toe.

Starting SF is still playing, but he's nursing a hamstring.

I had cut down everyone's minutes to 25 or less, but it didn't help. I've turned durability up from 90 to 100.

I wondered how the Bulls were winning through to the finals without their starters. This isn't happening in simmed games, but in played games at least one starter from each team is injured every game.

I keep editing out the injuries to get through the series. But both starting centers have been injured every game. They play through the injury until they foul out (see the "This Game is Getting Foul" thread), but after the game they're out for the season. I edit the injury to healthy, make sure their body part health is all 99's, but then the next game they both get injured.

The Lakers have also lost their starting SF, starting SG, starting PF all to leg injuries. In four games, each of them has only been injured once. I edit the injuries to healthy just to get through the series with both teams healthy.

I just turned injury frequency down to 40. We'll see what happens.

Next season begins. Bulls starting Center, with 99 for all body part health, injured in game 3. Out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury.

Bulls starting PF out 4-6 weeks with knee injury.

Turned injury frequency down to 35. If the game had its way, the Bulls would be a team of FA mid-season acquisitions by mid way through a 29 game season. It's looking like the only option is to play without injuries. It's either no injuries, or everyone is injured most of the time.

Turned injury frequency down to 30, keep replaying the games in the Lakers v Bulls series. At least one starter suffers a leg injury every game. It's usually one of the starting centers.

Both of them have 99 for every body part health. But it doesn't matter. It's sprain after broken leg after knee injury.
