Talk about NBA 2K17 here.

This is not a bug/glitch I want to report. Instead it's a suggestion
The problem is that the game "correctly" but not realistically calls defensive 3 seconds
This is a huge issue for me since I'm playing a 63 Center atm that is slow as dirt and is constantly stuck in post-up animations.
So imo they either need to patch those animations or make the refs call 3 seconds at 4-5s

Personally, I'd rather have the rule called accurately. It seems like too many players in 2K Pro-Am can get away with three in the key as it is.

To me it feels like AI is getting away with a lot of no-calls in this matter. Though to be honest, it's not that common to have it called anyway.

I actually think that the Offensive 3 Seconds is called inaccurately in the game.
In the NBA, the official is not supposed to call a violation if the 3 seconds conclude while the offensive player is putting up a shot, moving out of the restricted area, or passing out. I'm pretty sure that I have had the violation called in the game while in the middle of a shooting motion or heading out of the area.
And, of course, we also know that, in real life, officials are extremely lenient on 3 Seconds calls. Would be tough, but it would be interesting if 2K built in some sort of logic and/or randomizer to account for individual officiating styles and favoritism for certain players.

I notice it more in 2K Pro-Am, where some gamers are trying to cheese and camp in the lane. Of course, since you can get still get stuck together and in animations, it's also something you can try to force to get the ball back on the turnover.

Speaking about 3 second violation... is it called when you have one foot in the lane?

Nope. Only when both feet are in it.
And I agree. I'm playing with a 6'11 center aswell and sometimes I just freak out cause I'm stuck in an animation with the other player marking me. It's annoying, yes.

Stuck in animation... In 2K17 players are able to push another defender half the court.

yeah this needs to be addressed. i get called about twice a game as im trying to leave the restricted area but the AI is leaning on me or literally grabbing me. yet when the AI is on offense and their post player is in the same type of situation. their guy will literally just "turbo" out of the animation or through an elbow that nearly takes the defender's head off. then easily escapes the restricted area, thus no 3 in the key call.

I have had 2 instances when I was called for offensive 3 seconds while I was stuck falling into the seats behind the basket. The first time I wasn't sure the call was on me but there was no one in the paint so the 2nd time I purposely got myself stuck in the seats and, sure enough, I got called.

According to the
official rulebook, it seems as though the out of bounds three second call is legitimate.
An offensive player shall not remain for more than three seconds in that part of his free throw lane between the endline and extended 4' (imaginary) off the court and the farther edge of the free throw line while the ball is in control of his team.
However, it would seem there are definitely issues with the call being made while in the act of shooting. As per the rules:
Allowance may be made for a player who, having been in this area for less than three seconds, is in the act of shooting at the end of the third second. Under these conditions, the 3-second count is discontinued while his continuous motion is toward the basket. If that continuous motion ceases, the previous 3-second count is continued. This is also true if it is imminent the offensive player will exit this area.

Ditto for me. I was stuck to a guy and turbo'd out of bounds before the call. I was probably out of bounds under the hoop for a good half a second and then got whistled for 3 seconds. WTF? A cpu player hung around for about 6 seconds and didn't get called. Upon replay, I noticed that while half his body was always above the paint, at some point he lifted the foot that was in the paint so that he was technically out of the paint and then back in, resetting the 3 second rule.
The main problem is these stupid animations that cause me to stick to my defender. Is there a slider setting that can get rid of that?

Well, if you're talking about a CPU defender on your offensive player, a defender can stand in the paint for as long as he wants if he's within arm's reach of an offensive player. So if an offensive player is standing right at the edge of the key, a defender can basically then camp out in the paint in order to guard him. For good reason.
Keep this in mind when you're defending.
Last night I got a 3-second violation called and the whistle seemed like it was blown AS I was passing from the paint to an open 3-point shooter. During the motion of passing, which would cause an NBA ref to swallow his whistle if the outbound pass was thrown.
