DEE4THREE TUTORIALS - JUKEBOX EDITING

Hi all

This video shows you how to import your own music over the 2k Beats music in NBA 2k16 for the PC. You will need these two applications.

1. Audacity
2. GregKWaste NBA 2k Explorer tool
*Credit to TBM as well for his written instruction on how to get started

The Modded folder, and the shared folder inside the modded folder do not work for audio files. So Gregs tool is a must. If the game has a patch 7, you will need to verify your game cache. You will not lose any save files, you will only lose the music you imported, so you will have to import again. If patch 7 happens and the audio is in the game, the game will crash after the bootup splash. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS VERIFY YOUR GAME CACHE, and everything will be fine. After each patch ive done this, and only lost my audio.

Note: When I say "change project rate to 4800" I meant 48000.

If "Manifest-g" is in the main NBA 2k16 directory, remove it. Try again after that.

Wouldn't call this a find. I explained exactly how to do this in early October in the Explorer FAQ. Good tutorial nonetheless, although there is a small bit of misinformation in there in regards to audio quality.

I explained that the "4800" thing was a mistake. Also, your tutorial helped, but mine explained the whole size difference thing, and I found out how that worked by trial and error. And by showing "EXACTLY" how to do this, as you say above, the size difference process would have been explained. You also didn't touch base on the fact that a patch to the game would make you have to verify your game cache and you would lose the music, etc. It also doesnt state where the songs are, or that you can import basically any song length. That is not exactly.

TBM, show some support instead of making strange comments. You made a better TNT scoreboard than I did and I gave you kudos and think its awesome. These videos are to help people, and I think they will. My video also shows how I get my songs (the YouTube to mp3 converter process), which many still don't know about.

On my fantasy draft video, I gave you nothing but props, same with my screenshot of your Kobe calling it the best young Bean, and I gave you credit for your Westbrook cyber face as well.

I was trying to make a point. I am perfectly fine with constructive criticism. In fact, I welcome it because it makes me better. And if you are talking about the blurb in there about the "amplify function", I should have been a little more clear. You don't notice a quality difference (I don't) when you amplify a little bit, but if the song barely has any volume at all to it (poor quality), and you amplify a ton, you can notice it being a little scratchy and not great quality.

It's all good. Hoping people are using this and making awesome playlists for themselves.

Hey, first time poster here. I have a quick question. I was attempting to replace some of the Event Music in game with the TNT theme music. I went through with the method you used for the Jukebox music and replaced each file between 2757 and 2787. Everything imports correctly, and there aren't any errors when previewing the music. The issue is once I get in game the default event music files are still being used. Am I missing a step?

Any ideas or help would be appreciated :D

Hey Adam,

Love the KG Celtics picture!

I ran into the same problem honestly, I replaced all those audio files, went in perfect, got into the game and no change. I had the same type of issue when I was trying to replace the bootup splash (title page), where I Swore I replaced the right file, it went in right, and it didn't work....

I think you and I maybe need to do a little more digging, maybe those are NOT the correct files to overwrite? There are thousands of audio files, I swore those were the right ones.

When I get a chance this week I will do some more digging to see what I can come up with. Im glad someone else is looking at this and putting value on it, I think it greatly enhances the game.

Hey,

Big time Celtics fan, so obviously I had to go with the KG picture!

Anyways, I had just recently bought 2K16 for the PC because I wanted to look into modding for it. I had seen the scoreboard mods for previous versions of the game and I think that adding in custom scoreboards and music would bring the game to a whole new level.

I've been a bit busy, but I'll continue to dig through the sound files as well. I'm honestly surprised that more people haven't been interested in modding this aspect of the game.

I hope we can find a working solution (Y)

That happened to me sometimes when I imported music in NBA 2k15. Make sure you are saving the file is .OGG, than import. Follow the way I did it on the video to a T and you will be all set.

Oh, and also. Make sure you are changing the project rate to 48000 in Audacity, that also could be way. So change the project rate to 48000 in audacity, save as .ogg, and import into NBA 2k explorer.

Edit song name, artist and album art

Postby klay365 on Sat Jul 02, 2016 11:40 am

Hi, I'm new here and new to NBA 2K modding (but not to modding in general). I wanted to thank you for your tutorial, it inspired me to do some more digging myself into soundtrack customization. I was in fact able to not just import a custom song, but also to rename the song accordingly in the game and to import a customized album art/cover.

Image

I will now write down a little tutorial, hoping some of you might be insterested in it. Before you start, make a backup of your 0B file in case anything goes wrong and make sure your Windows is set to always show file extensions, this will prevent problems and misunderstandings.

EDIT SONG NAME AND ARTIST IN THE GAME
We're gonna do this through the NBA2K16 Explorer (external plugin doesn't work for this).

1. Open NBA2K16 Explorer v0.40 and in Preferences tick just the 0B file.
2. Go to File and click on "Load Archives".
3. Search for file music.json, right-click on it and click on "Export Archive".
4. You can now open the music.json file with any text editor and edit its content. This is really simple and doesn't need any further explanation, you only need to edit the "Artist" and "Name" fields, leave the rest as it is.
5. When you're finished editing your music.json file, save it, close the editor and rename it to music.json.iff (otherwise you won't be able to import it back).
6. In NBA2K16 Explorer right-click on music.json, click on "Import Archive", and select your newly edited music.json.iff.
7. Go to File and click on "Apply Changes". Wait for the process to finish and then you can run the game and enjoy your new tracklist.

EDIT ALBUM ART/COVER
This can be done through the NBA 2K16 External File Plugin, we only need NBA2K16 Explorer once to extract the necessary files.

1. Open NBA2K16 Explorer v0.40 and in Preferences tick just the 0B file.
2. Go to File and click on "Load Archives".
3. Search for file alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff, right-click on it and click on "Export Archive". Once exported you can close NBA2K16 Explorer.
4. Rename the alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff to alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff.zip, open it and extract the album art you want to replace, for example: 003_cultofpersonality.41a32d55c68001e7.dds.
5. We now need to create a 256x256 .dds file with our own album art. You can definitely do this in several ways, but I will cover here just one that immediately worked for me: (1) obtain your album art image and make sure it's a square (e.g. 600x600, 512x512 and so on), (2) download FIFA File Explorer 2014 by jenkey1002, (3) open 003_cultofpersonality.41a32d55c68001e7.dds with it and click on "Import"; (4) scroll down to "JPEG (*.jpg)" in case your album art is .jpg and open your album art, (5) click on "Resize", (6) untick "DDS size...", (7) in Width or Height go down to 256 and (8) click OK and then (9) click "Save", you can now quit the program.
6. We're gonna import the edited .dds file back into the .zip now. WinRAR makes this real easy: just open alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff.zip with WinRAR and drag-and-drop your edited 003_cultofpersonality.41a32d55c68001e7.dds into the .zip, and finally click OK on the window popping up.
7. Rename alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff.zip to alb_cvr_cont_fcb780e2.iff and move it to your "Modded" folder inside your NBA 2K16 folder.
8. Enjoy the album arts. :)

Dee, what is the ideal setting for taking a song and audacity editing it to be an arena PA timeout song? What needs to be done to it? Thanks!
