Goldenstate77's NBA2K16 Reshade Settings (v2!)

Postby goldenstate77 on Wed Oct 28, 2015 1:18 pm

This thread is for feedback/suggestions regarding my Reshade settings for NBA 2K16.

...and now includes my V2 for NBA NBA2K16 and my 4 NBA 2K15 settings. (Note: this is for those who want to try them, my "goldenstate77" and "goldnstatev2" presets are the only settings designed specifically for NBA 2K16), although the others look pretty good too.

(works with Win 7, Win 8, Win 8.1, and Win 10)

You can download the settings here: Goldenstate77's Reshade for NBA 2K16 (v2!)

Please check back for updates, as I'm still testing/tweaking the mod.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Reshade, you can read up on it here: http://reshade.me/. Props to crosire, Lucifer Hawk, CeeJay.dk, Marty McFly, Ioxa and Jpulowski, whose colloboration made Reshade possible. All credit goes to them. Creating settings for specific games is relatively simple, once you get the hang of it.

Specifically, the mod:

-removes yellowish tint
-adjusts lighting to create a more realistic halogen/stadium feel and accentuate reflections
-slightly sharpen the picture
-slightly brighten the picture

For those familar with ENB, this mod provides an "ENB-like" effect by adjusting the tuningpallete (creates a clearer, more realistic look).

How would that injector compare with your SweetFx from last year, in terms of influencing the performance? About the same?

Kevin: Thank bro. You're one of best modders around.
Buzzy: It should be about the same, but interested to hear what folks are seeing with respect to performance drops.
Syncinatti: Thanks man. Reshade takes a bit of work to configure, but once you do it once or twice, you'll be a pro. Reshade provides tons of shaders in addition to the standard sweetfx shaders.

I will prob realease a couple versions like last year. If anyone wants to try any of my settings from 2k15, let me know which one and I'll covert it over to reshade.

Also, please give me your feedback. I got a new monitor a few weeks ago, and haven't calibrated it yet (my spyder bit it).

After you install, you can verify that all the right shaders are checked. I list them in my post in the download thread. That's a good way to verify that the mod installed correctly. If for some reason one of the shaders I list isn't checked, then let me know here in this thread.

It looks great but my fps dropped from 60 down to 40 @4k. Don't remember if the drop was that much last year. Hopefully there is a way to boost that back closer to 60. I might have to buy another gtx 970 and run SLI
Last year version 2 additional color was my favorite.

Wow, thats too much. I'm interested to hear what others are seeing. I can optimize it a bit. For now, go to mediator, select nba 2k15, go to pipeline, and check off smaa.

Click apply when finished.

Hey, so I checked off smaa and my fps went from 40 to 43 but still too low for me.
When I press scroll lock to turn off the effects the fps goes up to 51. When I uninstall it the fps goes back to 60.
So even with the effects off I'm getting significant fps drop.
Thanx for your help.

Wow. That' doesn't sound right. It should have no effect to performance when you turn it off. In fact, when on, it should have a 3-6 fps drop. I'll need to look into it, and post the problem on the reshade help thread. Please bear with me.

Interest to know if others have experienced this. I only get a few fps drop when enabled, and no drop at all when the mod is disabled.

goldenstate77, nice to see you back (Y)

I still use your nba 2k15 sweetfx mod (v1-standard and v3-broadcast) and it works just fine with nba 2k16.

Will try out Goldenstate77's Reshade Settings 1.0 in a moment.

Hey Jay-r good to see you too. I wasn't aware that the EFX worked for 2016, but good to hear.

Let me know what you think of the reshade settings.

Hey man any chance of seeing an "additional color" SweetFX like you did last year? Seeing about a 12-20fps drop here with this reshade!

Hey Shady I am looking into the performance drop. It seems some people are seeing a 10-12 fps drop even with shaders disabled.

Yes happy to convert "addition color" from last year.

Also as people post here please include OS. Thx

I couldn't get last year's version to work for 2k16. Did you do anything different or just pasted it in the main files folder like last year?

I'm wondering if this problem is only for those running on a 4k screen. 3840x2160 as I am?

Well the higher the reso, the bigger the performance hit. Having said that, reshade/sweetfx etc should have no effect when inactive. I've posted questions in the reshade help forums, and I will try to get to the bottom of it.

I haven't tried my NBA 2k15 setting in 2k16, but should be fairly simple to convert to reshade (as it includes all the sweetfx shaders). Will give it a go when I have some free time. Which operating system are you using?

As someone interested in possibly making my own graphics modifier settings for 2K16, what are the benefits of using Reshade over SweetFX?

TBM, reshade is just the injector, and it's not only compatible with all windows versions (well, 7 and up at least), but its compatible with 32 and 64 bit games, and dx9, dx10, dx11 & opengl. Also, it provides roughly 3-4x the number of shaders (and the number of shaders continues to grow). Essentially it combines sweetfx, gemfx, customfx, McFX, etc via a single interface.... reshade's "mediator" app. Shaders such as godrays, lensflare, motion blur, etc etc. One of the key shaders is tuningpallete (customfx), which is similar to enbpallete, if you're familiar with enb series. I've been messing with making a custom pallete for 2k16.

There's also a version of reshade, which you can download from the reshade website, that includes only the sweetfx shaders.

Can you do live updates with Reshade? Or do you have to re-open the game every time you update?

You can make adjustments on the fly, similarly to sweetfx.
