What's Your Deodorant/Anti-Perspirant?

Postby shadowgrin on Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:47 am

Since General Talk hasn't had any stupid threads lately (no, threads by benji and Lamrock doesn't count neither does the rap contest thread, rap is serious business here) I decided to make one.

What the title says.
I know that a manly man such as you the reader doesn't need such a thing and cherishes being one with the earth but a deodorant can be classified alongside other important things such as reading a book, raising kids, water, land ownership, and brushing teeth...
phpBB [video]

Natural (potassium alum) or commercial? What brand do you prefer? Type of smell? Solid, gel, cream, spray on, or liquid/roll on? No deodorant/anti-perspirant, why none?

This is not a survey. Or maybe it is...

I prefer the solid deodorants because I don't want a puddle in my armpit. I also avoid the 'sport' type smell since they tend to be overpowering. I don't want to smell like a deodorant.

I used to prefer this...
Image
A local product (I think). It's a solid type but they probably discontinued making it since I can't find one anywhere and the only ones I find now are the cream types so I changed to Old Spice, still the solid type specifically this...

Only because back in middle school, when I was being taught by hippies, this "teacher" blabbed on and on about aluminum content in deorderant and how you'll get alzheimers or some shit. Old Spice was the only one that I found at the store that didn't have aluminum in the list on the back so winner winner.

Anything that isn't a solid is the fucking devil and deserves to be burnt. Spray ones do nothing, gel made my armpit hair clump together, and the liquid ones literally fused armpit hair to my t-shirt that I had to cut off....not makin that shit up.
Opinions are my own.

When i first started using deodarant at that awkward age where you dont really understand why you used to not smell but now you do:

Image

Why? because its what my dad used and back then whatever my dad said went. I used pretty much all the same shampoos/soap etc he did.

Then i got to college and said "fuck your shit, i smell like im 40. Lets see what this new fangled axe is"

I've tried most of the brands of axe except kilo (always has smelled like shit) Eventually i settled on the blue (not the white, gets all over my clothes) Phoenix Axe flavor. Used to use the shower gel too but my parents are old and tell me i didnt "smell clean" (same active ingredients, ive checked.)
Image

Ive used the liquids but never felt they last very long, hated gels. Also gels were inconvenient for when i rolled out of bed 3 minutes before practice because they wouldnt be dry by the time i got to my workout.

Many of my dormmates used the spray as shower in a can when asked to paries and would spray it on the crotch of their jeans...

I too, use Axe and prefer solid deodorant. The first deodorant/anti-perspirant I ever used was Old Spice back when I was 10 because we were being taught about going through puberty and how we were to maintain our personal hygiene, etc. so the school supplied us fifth graders with a sample-size stick. Since then I've also tried Speed Stick, but I've used Axe the past few years. Judging from my name, it should be obvious as to why.

I despise spray deodorants. And i never liked the feeling of gel deodorants once you put it on.It is always cold.

I'm not really a smelly person, but when i DO want to smell like a concoction of nice smelling chemicals, i use this:

Image

Only aussies will know this brand but HEAR YOU ME - it smells delightful.
I remember about 7-8 years ago, hanging with my friend and i noticed the way he smelled (he always used to cake on the deodorant), and i was like "dude, you smell awesome, what deodorant is that?" ... and after we were done :bowdown2: :hump: ...i went out and got myself some rexona essentials and i never looked back. :) I still use it to this day.

It's all spray-ey, but it's dry spray so you don't get wetness under your arm. (Y)

I don't really have a brand, saw that the last time I ran out and decided to give it a try.

I use Rexona spray deodorants these days, from Mexico... I was using solid ones because they do seem more efficient, but they were leaving huge ass marks on any shirt I would wear.

Used to stick to gillette gel. Nice and cool, no white residue, etc. It turned all my white t-shirts yellow at the underpits. I go with pure solid, now. Suave, Old Spice, Degree, even Secret. I tried Arm and hammer, but it had the aluminum shit and I didn't like it as much as the other three. Axe spray deodorant just smelled like cheap cologne, and didn't even keep my dry throughout the day. I tried a liquid roll on from an old spice kit I got as a gift one day. Not bad, but it tended to sting sometimes when applying. Every now and the I'll try a new one if it's on sale.

I don't spend $80-$120 per bottle of cologne to have that impeded by the smell of something that cost me $6 from the supermarket. No sir. Unscented all the way.

I have some version of what DC311 has. His first post, not the video. I don't really use it often, and I think it's the cheapest at Wal-Mart without a smell. I despise Old Spice's smell.

Although if we're being realistic my natural smell is the best. Just like my farts and poop.

It's your odor, farts and poop that smell bad. Not my problem.

EDIT: Now I'm getting a ton of deodorant ads on here...sigh...

No idea, it's made by Revlon and is available globally that's basically all I know about it. I've been using it for 12 years, it's great.

It's a pretty good idea since most deodorants smell like shite (I don't mind the Nivea Silver one though).

Mine is unscented as well. If Jae can get unscented in a country where over 22 million people are Australian every year anyone can.

Any bet that when I go to supermarket, I'll now see that every third or fourth type of men's deodorant is unscented. That's the way these things tend to go

Whilst every third or fourth deodorant wasn't unscented, I did spot Jae's special. It was there all along, just down below knee height. No wonder I never saw it before.
