the special edition sounds like it's got a bunch of useless stuff but the collecter's edition sounds cool. you get a wallet & hat.. but will you be able to customize your online character in the regular version like in gta iv?

Pretty cool and all, but I'll probably be able to get by with just the base game.

All I need is the game, I don't care about the extra stuff.

Seems like the GTA V special editions allows special shirts, but you should be able to get by fine with the base game.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm fairly certain I'll pass on it, but it does look like a cool pack.

Minimum wage says nothing if not compared against cost of living based on the same stuff. I'm not saying I know Texas is cheaper than Australia, but still.

minimum wage in CA is $8/hr but i think the difference is due to income taxes. i had a lot of australian families visit at the hotel i used to work at at disney and i think i remember them saying that they pay more hourly and tipping is not as customary over there... that's how people in texas get paid like $3/hr with the company expecting the rest to be made up through customers' tips.

Canadian and Amerian currency are pretty much 1 to 1. And minimum wage(my province) is $10.25. Works out to be...

$60 at $10.25 = 5.85 hours

LoL. But medicare in my country is free. You get the idea.

This is utterly meaningless comparison. Might as well set the number of poisonous snakes as the denominator. How many Aussies make the minimum wage? How many Americans? How many of each country make no wage? What about all the Aussies underage (oh wait, they can't buy the game can they) or in a non-qualifying situation who make less than $16? What about the differing states and their own minimum wages? What about the purchasing power of the Aussie dollar being so much weaker? Why should prices of goods be compared to a legislatively set tax on the poor?

I'd be shocked if the tips exemption wasn't in California law as well.

No, it isn't.

Hopefully these are no longer included and you can only provide a fair wage plus tips to hookers and provide old bitches with outsized public pensions.

Elderlies, sick, and poor get medicare service pretty much for free. To keep that system up, everything here is overtaxed/overpriced. Oh, then welfare... I've known about people who works 6 months then asks employer to fire them so they can collect welfare checks for next year or so. Meanwhile they'd go work for cash jobs. It's too common around here. :shake:

I deserve my game cheap. LoL

Junior wages are lower, for whatever that may be worth. It's all relative, too. The Australian Dollar currently buys 96 US cents and in recent years it's often been on par with or at times slightly higher than the US dollar, though we're paying almost twice as much for games and other products are priced similarly higher compared to the States. Wages may appear to be higher, but essentials and non-essentials alike are priced higher, so it kind of evens out.

Fuel is probably a good example. A quick Google search shows the average price of fuel in the US at the moment to be around $3.60 per gallon (please correct me if I'm wrong). At the moment, the average price in Australia is around $1.40 per litre (0.264 US gallons), which means we're paying around $5.30 per gallon.

Getting back to new release games, you really only pay that much if you go somewhere like EB Games. Stores like JB Hi-Fi often price new releases somewhere around $75-90 and there are even better deals online, such as ozgameshop.com which has prices that are more comparable to the US or UK (sourcing games from the latter). It's the best way to go for us Aussies, so long as we don't mind waiting a week or so for the game to arrive. If you want the game on release day, you have to shop around, bite the bullet and pay at least a little more...plus drive there, at $5.30 per gallon. ;)
